OPENING SERVE: The No. 14 Snow College women's volleyball team heads to Twin Falls, Idaho, Sept. 4-5 to compete in the Starr Corporation Invitational.

The Badgers open the two-day event against Treasure Valley Community College Friday at 9:00 a.m., followed by a matchup with Western Nebraska Community College at 5:00 p.m. Snow College closes out the invitational Saturday against Central Wyoming College at 3:00 p.m.

The Badgers split their four matches at the Laramie County Community College Invitational,  earning victories over No. 16 Colby Community College and No. 11 Casper College while falling to No. 3 Northeastern Junior College and New Mexico Military Institute. Snow College enters the weekend with a 5-3 overall record and is averaging 10.5 kills, 13.6 digs and 2.3 blocks per set through eight matches.

KNOW YOUR FOE: Unlike the LCCC Invitational, where the Badgers faced four nationally ranked opponents, Snow College does not face a ranked opponent at the Starr Corporation Invitational.

TVCC enters Friday's matchup with a 1-3 record after dropping its last three matches at the Highline Tournament. The Chukars are averaging 9.4 kills, 11.4 digs and 0.8 blocks per set through four matches.

WNCC enters the weekend with a 5-4 overall record and is averaging 10.2 kills, 14.1 digs and 1.8 blocks per set. The Cougars enter the Starr Corporation Invitational on a four-match winning streak after earning victories over Utah State University Eastern, Central Arizona College, Missouri State University-West Plains and CWC.

CWC enters the weekend still searching for its first win of the season with an 0-8 record. The Rustlers previously competed in the Crystal Invitational, falling to New Mexico Junior College, College of Southern Idaho, USUE and WNCC. CWC is averaging 7.5 kills, 11.5 digs and 1.6 blocks per set.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Emily Kenison, a freshman middle blocker of the Snow College volleyball team was named the Scenic West Athletic Conference Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.

Kenison earned the weekly recognition after helping the Badgers secure two victories at the LCC invitational, where she recorded season highs in kills, blocks, digs and points.

Over the tournament, Kenison totaled 28 kills, 20 blocks, and 10 digs. Her 20 blocks provided a strong defensive presence at the net while her 28 kills helped the Badgers offensively.

In her first season with Snow College, Kenison has quickly established herself as an efficient offensive and defensive contributor. Through 26 sets, she has recorded 48 kills and 32 total blocks, averaging 1.85 kills and 1.23 blocks per set.

Kenison has also recorded a .342 hitting percentage, committing just 10 errors on 111 total attacks. Her hitting percentage ranks as one of the Badgers' most efficient offensive marks.

Defensively, Kenison has totaled 32 blocks, including one solo block and 31 block assists. She has also added 14 digs and 68.5 total points on the season.

LAST TIME OUT: The Badgers opened the LCC invitational with a 3-0 sweep of Colby Community College. Snow College recorded 37 kills compared to 25 for the Trojans and held a 6-0 advantage in blocks. The Badgers also totaled 39 digs, while CCC recorded 38.

Lily Grant led the badgers with 23 assists, while Aleah McDaniel and Saidey Spencer each recorded 10 digs.

Snow College continued with a 3-1 victory over Casper College. The Badgers opened the match with a commanding 25-12 win before taking the second set 25-20. The Thunderbirds responded with a 25-18 victory in the third set, but Snow College closed out the match with a 25-20 win in the fourth.

The Badgers held advantages in several statistical categories, recording 48 kills to Casper's 37 and 11 blocks to the Thunderbirds' six. Snow College also totaled 67 digs compared to 64 for Casper.

McDaniel led the Badgers with 17 kills, while Grant recorded 30 assists and 22 digs.

Snow College returned to action against New Mexico Military Institute, falling 3-1. The Badgers dropped the opening set 25-14 before responding with a 25-22 victory in the second. NMMI narrowly took the final two sets 25-23 and 25-22 to secure the match.

The Badgers recorded 42 kills and seven blocks, compared to 50 kills and five blocks for the Broncos. Snow College also totaled 52 digs.

Britani Stone and Grant tied for the team lead with 13 digs each, while Grant added 28 assists. Hallie Layton led the Badgers with 12 kills.

Snow College closed the invitational against Northeastern Junior College, falling 3-1. The Badgers dropped the first set 25-22 before bouncing back with a 25-16 victory in the second. NJC took the third set 25-20 and closed out the match with a 25-22 win in the fourth.

McDaniel and Marli Vaea led Snow College with 13 kills each, while Grant recorded 37 assists. Stone led the Badgers with 24 digs.
