The Snow College women's soccer team opened Scenic West Athletic Conference play Saturday in Rangely, Colorado, earning an 8-0 shutout victory over Colorado Northwestern Community College. The win marks a strong start to conference play as the Badgers improve to 1-2 overall.
Snow College got on the board early when Emma Glenn scored 3:14 into the match. Hallie Hansen added two goals in the first half, scoring in the 11th and 23rd minutes, while Lydia Neville found the net in the 40th minute to give the Badgers a 4-0 lead at halftime.
The Badgers continued their offensive pressure in the second half, with Brenna Arauzo converting a penalty kick in the 51st minute. Hansen completed her hat trick in the 54th minute, while Kelsie Peterson scored in the 64th minute. Anna Monson capped the scoring with a goal in the 86th minute to secure the 8-0 victory.
Snow College dominated possession and scoring opportunities throughout the match, outshooting CNCC 33-2, including a 24-1 advantage in shots on goal.
The Badgers return to action at home, hosting No. 4 Salt Lake Community College Thursday, Sept. 10, at 1:00 p.m. before facing No. 20 Utah State University Eastern Saturday, Sept. 12, also at 1:00 p.m. Both matches will be played at the Snow College Soccer Complex in Ephraim.
