Prior to Snow College
Mark spent two seasons in the National Football League with the San Diego Chargers and the Dallas Cowboys. Prior to his time in the NFL, he played at Abilene Christian University, where he was named an AP All-American in 1983. That same season, he was also named the Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Year.

Mark prepped at Throckmorton High School, where he was an All-State Athlete in football, basketball, and golf. He won three state titles in golf.
