#3 Snow claims WSFL title with 26-16 win over Pima

Box Score The #3 ranked Snow College Badgers added the 2015 WSFL Championship Trophy to the showcase with their 26-16 win over the Pima Community College Aztecs.   This was the Badgers 2nd win over the Aztecs in a period of 3 weeks.

After coming out of the locker room at halftime with a 16-10 lead, the Badgers defense kept Pima off the scoreboard until the end of the 4th quarter.  With 1:36 to play in the game, the Aztecs punched in a 2 yard touchdown run to close in on the Badgers' lead and make it 26-16, but a failed 2-point conversion and onside kick attempt sealed the victory for Snow.  "We set a goal to be conference champs and now we are conference champs," says Head Coach Britt Maughan in his post-game interview with Mike Traina.  "I'm excited that we had a good season.  It is all about the players.  At a place like Snow College, we don't get these guys for very long.  We have some great players that have shown they can win games and see success."

The Badgers got off to a quick lead as RB Stephen Shepard put Snow on the scoreboard with a 1-yard touchdown run on the opening drive of the game.  Snow would find the endzone once more in the 1st half on a reverse fleaflicker toss from QB Stefan Cantwell to a wide open WR Jonah Trinnaman, who waited on a short throw and escaped 3 defenders to make his way across the line for a 72 yard play and the 13-0 lead.  On the 3rd play of the 4th quarter, Snow RB Stephen Shepard had a 14 yard run for the Badger's only touchdown of the 2nd half.

Stefan Cantwell went 16 of 28 through the air for 203 yards and a touchdown.  Jonah Trinnaman led the receivers with 102 yards on 5 catches with a touchdown.  Stephen Shepard got it done in the rushing game netting 91 yards on 20 carries with 2 touchdowns.  Defensively, the Badgers had 9 sacks and 13 tackles for a loss.

The Badgers went into the weekend ranked #3 in the NJCAA polls and await their bowl game selection.
