EPHRAIM Utah (January 17, 2019) -- The Snow College men's basketball team jumped out to an early lead against Colorado Northwestern on Thursday, grabbing a 31-point lead at halftime, and cruised to an eventual 37-point victory over the Spartans, 98-61. The Badgers were credited with 12 three-pointers in the first half to take a 56-25 lead in to the break. With the win, Snow improves to 17-4 on the season, and moves in to second place in the Scenic West standings with a 2-1 record in conference play.
A total of five Badgers scored in double-digits, led by
Jake Walker who was credited with a team-high 15 points. Walker shot 6-of-12 from the field, including 3-for-9 from behind the three-point line.
Nick Huston added 14 points, while
Brayden Johnson was credited with 13 and
Taj Regans had 11 on the night.
Brantzen Blackner added 10 points for the Badgers to round out the scoring leaders. Defensively,
Truman Moore had a team leading seven rebounds, including five defensive boards.
All totaled, Snow shot 50 percent from the field on 34-of-68 attempts, including 15-of-41 attempts from three-point range. The Badger bench also made a significant contribution, out-scoring the Spartans' bench, 47-18.
Snow will next travel to Price, Utah to take on league leading Utah State Eastern on Saturday, Jan. 19. The Golden Eagles are 3-0 in league play and have defeated nationally ranked Southern Idaho and Salt Lake C.C. this past week. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Saturday. A Snow College victory would move the Badgers into a tie with USUE atop the league standings.
