Savannah Lucero and
Logan Hokanson have been selected as the Scenic West Athletic Conference players of the week after helping their respective teams to impressive victories this past week.
Lucero, a 5-foot-6 sophomore out of Thayne, Wyo., helped lead the Lady Badgers to a pair of important SWAC victories, including a 51-45 road win at Southern Idaho and a 71-52 home victory over nationally ranked Salt Lake Community College. The product of Star Valley High School knocked down 17 points on 5-of-11 shooting from three-point range against the Lady Eagles. Against the Lady Bruins, she dropped 14 points, including four three-pointers. All totaled, Lucero averaged 15.5 points on the week, and was credited with nine three-point baskets. Lucero is currently ranked 15th in the nation in three-point field goal percentage, connecting on 56-of-139 attempts throughout the season (.403).
Hokanson, a 6-foot-0 point guard out of Desert Hills High School in St. George, Utah, averaged 13 points over two games, picking up six points against No. 19 CSI and 20 points against No. 21 Salt Lake Community College. Against the Bruins, Hokanson drilled 7-of-10 attempts from the field, producing his second best shooting percentage of the season. Back on December 17, Hokanson hit 11-of-14 (.786) attempts against Impact Academy. Hokanson not only picked up 20 points against the Bruins, he also collected seven rebounds, seven assists and two blocked shots in the Badgers 20-point win over SLCC.
It is the second time this season Hokanson has been named the Scenic West Player of the Week.
