EPHRAIM, UT October 9, 2019 -- After a two-week bye, the Badgers will travel to Florida to face the ASA Miami Silver Storm on Saturday, marking the third consecutive year in which the two teams will face each other. In the two previous competitions, Snow College is 2-0 outscoring ASA Miami 129-63. But despite the good history against the Silver Storm, Head Coach Andrew Mitchell is realistic of the challenge.
"This is college football," Mitchell said. "Anyone can beat anyone any week. You don't have to look very far to see examples of that every week around the country. ASA Miami is a much-improved program, and we expect to get their best shot and for this to be a highly competitive game."
When asked about the effect that the long break in games over the past two weeks has had on the Badgers, Mitchell said, "I think it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. We were able to rest some of our older players that were dinged up and give more reps to some younger guys which helps their development and preparation."
ASA Miami, currently sitting with a record of 4-1, is coming off a victory by forfeit against Louisburg College (Georgia). Their one loss came at the hands of Lackawanna College by the score of 40-25. The Badgers, who hold a record of 3-2, are looking to string two wins in a row for the first time this season. In order to do so, the Badgers will have to make a few adjustments on both sides of the ball to secure a victory this Saturday.
"We've made a huge emphasis on taking care of the football offensively and generating takeaways defensively," Mitchell said. "We know that's why we're not undefeated at this point."
Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. MST (1 p.m. ET) and will be available on radio stations KMTI AM 650 and 95.1 FM, with live streaming available at local10.centracom.com or on the YouTube channel WATCHit/SnowTV.
