If you've driven past the Snow College football stadium lately you may have seen the football team still out practicing well past their last home football game. That's because the Badgers finished the season ranked number four in the nation and have now been invited to participate in the first ever NJCAA Playoff.
This is the first year that the NJCAA has initiated a playoff system similar to the NCAA with the top four teams playing to determine the national championship. Undefeated Iowa Western is the number one seed and will host the Badgers on Saturday December 4. The same Iowa Western that handed Snow College their only loss on the year. A three-point loss that the Badgers are hoping to avenge in a rematch.
"Iowa Western is a very, very good team," said Head Coach
Zac Erekson. "No excuses, they beat us. We had a lot of things going on that week and we didn't play our best game of the year and you have to play your best against the best. I'm hoping we can play up to our potential this Saturday."
In the other matchup New Mexico Military ranked #2 and a 10-1 record will host Northwest Mississippi with a record of 9-2. The winners of the semi-final games will then travel to Little Rock, AR to play for the National Championship.
"One game at a time for sure," said Erekson. "But it would really be nice to get back to the championship game. We feel like there's still some unfinished business there too. One game at a time. Iowa Western will be a big challenge."
The game video broadcast will be NJCAA pay-per-view. KMTI will offer an audio only broadcast with the pregame starting at 1:05pm and a livestream atÂ
