The Snow College women's soccer team earned its seventh shutout of the season en route to an 11-0 victory over Colorado Northwestern Community College Thursday in Rangely.
Seven different Badgers scored during the match including
Mayu Yamamoto who recorded her second hat trick of the season after finding the net three times on six shots.
Fiona Jensen and
Skye Kennedy each had two goals for the Badgers
Snow College opened the match scoreless through the first 15 minutes but quickly turned on the jets and scored four goals in a 10-minute span from the 17
th minute to the 27
th minute. Yamamoto scored two of those goals while Kennedy and
Miku Kayama added a goal apiece. The Badgers would take that 4-0 lead into halftime.
The Badgers scored consistently throughout the second half putting in the first goal in the 47
th minute as Yamamota beat the keeper off an assist by Kayama. Jensen scored her two goals in the 51
st and 69
thminutes, respectively, which sandwiched a goal by
Kennedy Allen.
Laila Spring and
Belle Meadows each scored a goal in the 76
th and 79
th minutes before Kennedy scored her Scenic West Athletic Conference leading 22
nd goal of the season in the 87
th minute giving the Badgers an 11-0 victory.
This match marks the third match of the season in which the Badgers have scored double-digit goals and are averaging 8.3 goals per game during their current seven-game winning streak.
Snow College put up an astounding 38 shots during the match with 18 shots on goal. Defensively, the Badgers only allowed four shots, two on goal, but both were saved by keeper McKenna Conley.
Snow College, which now sits at 10-1-1 overall and 7-1-1 in the SWAC, will now return home to take on No. 4 Salt Lake Community College in a match that has the potential to decide who wins the conference.
