Men's Soccer Wraps Up Season With Home Bout Against USUE

OPENING KICKOFF: The Snow College men's soccer team will wrap up its regular season Thursday as it hosts No. 10 Utah State University Eastern.

The Badgers are coming off a 2-0 defeat to No. 2 Salt Lake Community College Saturday in Ephraim.  It was just the second time this Snow College has been shut out, both of which coming at the hands of the Bruins.

Snow College is locked into the three spot within the Scenic West Athletic Conference standings.  SLCC can lock up the one seed with a win or a USUE loss or tie.  More than likely, Thursday's matchup with the Eagles will serve as a precursor to the first round of the SWAC tournament as USUE currently holds the two seed in the conference and would play the Badgers in that matchup.

Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at the Snow College Soccer Complex in Ephraim.

KNOW YOUR FOE: The Eagles come into the matchup with a 10-2 overall record and an 8-1 SWAC record.  USU-E has won seven matches in a row.  Its only conference loss came in a 2-1 defeat against SLCC September 8.

The Badgers have played 16 matches against the Eagles dating back to 2016.  Snow College has been victorious in 10 of those contests.  The Badgers and the Eagles squared off three times against each other last season.  Snow College won two out of those matches, the first of which was a 3-1 victory September 11.  The Badgers then suffered a 3-2 defeat in Price October 9.  The two teams faced again in the first round of the Region 18 tournament and Snow College claimed a 1-0 victory.

Their most recent matchup resulted in a 2-1 loss for the Badgers October 1 in Price.  Snow College tied the match in the 29th minute but gave up the game winning goal in the 71st minute and were unable to recover.

LAST TIME OUT: The Snow College men's soccer team suffered a 2-0 defeat against No. 2 Salt Lake Community College Saturday in Ephraim.

The Badgers came into the matchup having won three straight games and needing a victory if they wanted any chance of winning the Scenic West Athletic Conference and hosting a home playoff game.

The Bruins sported an unblemished 9-0 record.  They defeated Snow College 1-0 in overtime September 1 and would again hold the Badgers scoreless en route to a 2-0 victory.

The Badgers and the Bruins fought to a scoreless tie at the halftime break.  It was SLCC who broke through in the 59th minute.  The Bruins would strike again in the 68th minute to take a 2-0 lead that they would hold through the final whistle to earn the victory.

UP NEXT: Snow College will participate in the 2022 NJCAA Region 18 Tournament which will be hosted by the winner of the regular season SWAC champion.  As it sits now, SLCC would be the host school and the Badgers would play the two seed, which is currently USUE.  For match start times, video streaming, and live stat information, visit snowbadgers.com.
