Badgers Continue Home Stand, Play No. 9 NIC and PNWCC

OPENING KICK: The Snow College men's soccer team will stay home to face Scenic West Athletic Conference leader No. 9 North Idaho College Thursday at 3:30 p.m. The Badgers will then face Pacific Northwest Christian College Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

The Badgers are coming off a 7-0 win Saturday against Colorado Northwest Community College.

KNOWING YOUR OPPONENT: NIC is currently ranked No. 9 in the NJCAA Division I Men's Soccer Rankings. The Cardinals are currently undefeated with an 11-0-2 overall record this season and a 7-0-1 mark in conference play. NIC currently sits at the top of the conference standings.

NIC is coming off of an 8-0 win to PNWCC last Saturday. The Cardinals are averaging 4.31 goals per game, and allowing only .26 goals per game.Â

NIC and Snow College have faced each other six times with each team winning three of the games. The most recent game was September 17, with NIC winning the match 3-0.

PNWCC is currently 0-11 on the season and sitting at the bottom of the SWAC standings. Snow College won the last meeting September 19, 9-0. PNWCC has scored just three goals this season while allowing 7.3 goals per game.

Snow College and PNWCC have played each other seven times, with the Badgers winning every matchup.

LAST TIME OUT: The Snow College men's soccer team returned home Saturday and faced Colorado Northwestern Community College in a 7-0 win.Â

The Badgers took control of the game from the start, scoring two of their seven goals in the first half. The first goal came in the fourth minute when Jace Thomson found the back of the net when receiving a deflection off of a Spartans defender.Â

The second goal came in the 39th minute, Issac Stanley sent a cross inside the six-yard box, which deflected off a Spartan defender into the goal.

In the first half the Badgers led the Spartans in shots (9-1), the Spartans had two saves in the first half, while the Badgers had none.

The Badgers took advantage of their momentum from the first half and used it in the second half scoring five more goals. In the 57th minute, Zach Henn scored his second goal of the season with assists from Josh Kilsby and Issac Stanley.

The Badgers later scored three goals in the span of five minutes. In the 66th minute, Christian Nsa scored his first goal of the season, with Kade Davis providing the assist. In the 68th minute, Gabe Newman scored his fourth goal of the season and in the 70th minute, Davis netted his third goal of the season, increasing the score to 6-0 with 20 minutes to play.

The final goal of the game came by Jorge Beltran, who found the back of the net for his fifth goal of the season in the 84th minute.

The Badgers led the game in shots (36-3) and shots on target (17-1). The Badgers improved their overall record to 6-4-2 and their conference record to 5-2-1, moving up in the conference standings to third.
