Women's Soccer Finishes Season With Win Over Eagles

The Snow College women's soccer team capped off the regular season win a 3-0 victory over Utah State University Eastern Thursday in Ephraim.  The win ensures the Badgers can finish no worse than second within the Scenic West Athletic Conference standings.

The Badgers played aggressively in the first half but were unable to gain an advantage.  They put up ten shots in the opening 45 minutes, with four shots on goal, but did not score.  Defensively they only allowed two Eagle shots, but keeper McKenna Conley turned away both.

Snow College broke the tie in the 68th minute.  Candela Gonzalez served it in from the corner and Skye Kennedy finished it off giving the Badgers a 1-0 lead.

The Badgers added another goal in the 77th minute as Madelyn McQueen fired a shot past the keeper from 10-yards out.  Kennedy and Fiona Jensen combined for the assist.

Snow College would add an insurance goal in the 87th minute.  Laila Spring fed a pass to Monica Garcia who fired towards the goal.  The keeper dove to try and stop the shot, but the ball deflected off her hands and had enough momentum to find the back of the net, giving the Badgers a 3-0 lead that they would maintain through the final whistle.

The Badgers finished the game with 22 total shots – half of which were on goal, while limiting the Eagles to 8 total shots in the match.

Snow College finishes the season with an overall record of 12-1-1 and 9-1-1 within the SWAC including a perfect 8-0 record at home.

Having wrapped up the final match of the regular season, the Badgers will play in the first round of the 2022 NJCAA Region 18 Tournament.  As it stands now, Snow College is in position to faced USUE in the first round.  There's a possibility the Badgers could move up to the one seed if Salt Lake Community College loses or ties in its final match of the season against USUE.  For match start times, video streaming, and live stat information, visit snowbadgers.com.
