The Snow College women's basketball team dropped a pair of games against Yavapai College and Laramie County Community College over the weekend at the Eagle Classic in Price.
Â
The Badgers were coming off a victory over Pima Community College in the final game of the Eastern Arizona Classic the week prior.  The Eagle Classic would serve as the penultimate weekend before the Badgers start Scenic West Athletic Conference play in December.
Â
Friday's game against Yavapai was a back-and-forth game as Snow College outscored the Roughriders in the first and third quarters but was outscored in the second and fourth quarters.Â
Â
The Badgers used an 8-1 run near the end of the first quarter and the start of the second quarter to take a 16-8 advantage.  The Roughriders quickly turned things around and outscored the Badgers 12-2 over the final minutes of the second quarter to take a two-point lead into the halftime break.
Â
Yavapai extended its lead to five early in the third quarter, but the Badgers rallied and took a four-point lead into the final period.  The Roughriders fought back though and outscored the Badgers 24-15 in the fourth to earn the 52-47 victory.
Â
Three Badgers scored in double figures led by
Emily Evans who tallied a double-double finishing with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Â
Enid Vaifanua had 11 points while
Epa Tia finished with 10 points in the loss.
Â
Snow College turned around to face LCCC the following day and suffered a 56-50 defeat at the hands of the Golden Eagles.  The Badgers held a one-point lead after one quarter but were outscored in each of the final three quarters to drop their second straight game and five out of their last six.
Â
Samiana Suguturaga led all scorers with 20 points and six rebounds.  Vaifanua added 13 points and four assists in the loss.
Â
Snow College, now sitting at 2-5 overall, will now participate in its final two non-conference games at the Vista Auto Thanksgiving Classic in Casper, Wyoming.  In addition to a rematch against Casper College, whom the Badgers lost to 79-64 Nov. 5, Snow College will take on Western Wyoming Community College.
Â
The Badgers will take on the Thunderbirds Friday with tipoff scheduled for 5:00 p.m. Friday followed by a 12 noon start Saturday against the Mustangs.  For video streaming and live stat information, visit snowbadgers.com.
