Box Score Stout defense and a few late insurance goals was all Snow College needed to propel itself to a 5-1 victory over the Northwest College Trappers Thursday afternoon.
Hiroki Okada put the Badgers on the board in the first half. Oliver Fehintola provided the feed to Okada who did the rest sneaking the ball past the keeper from just inside the 18-yard box. Â
It was Snow College's defense that was the main story in the first half. The Badgers defenders limited NC's touches and in turn gave the offense more looks on the other end.
The Trappers came out more aggressive in the second half, however, and were able to provide more pressure on the Badger's defense.
Snow College was able to power through in the 62nd minute as Fehintola took a breakaway from Elijah Tenger all the way into the box. Fehintola stopped on a dime as his defender flew past him and had only the goalie to beat. From the right side of the box, Fehintola guided the ball into the bottom left corner of the net to give the Badgers a 2-0 cushion.
The Trappers would not let go of the rope and cut the lead in half in the 71st minute. Arthur Dalfior Kataoka served a pass into Paolo Victor Gomes who found the back of the net to bring the score to 2-1.
Snow College would waste no time in regaining it's two-goal advantage and would score a minute later. It was again Fehintola who scored a one-timer goal on a centering pass from Arthur Macri. Â
Macri found the back of the net himself two minutes later in the 74th minute. Jabari Campbell found Macri just outside the box. Macri blasted one past the keeper into the top corner of the goal to give the Badgers a 4-1.
The highlight of the night came as Harrison Taylor sent a free kick from 25 yards out around the defenders and into the top right corner of the net to give Snow College all the security it would need.
In total, the Badger's defense held the Trappers to just 7 shots. Snow College was able to put up 24 shots of its own to aid in the 5-1 victory.
The Badgers will look to extend its winning streak to three games as they host Casper College Saturday. Kick off is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
