Five days after a heartbreaking double-overtime loss to Casper College, the Snow College men's soccer team had history repeat itself as No. 2 Salt Lake Community College defeated the Badgers 1-0 in double overtime Thursday.
It was a goal from SLCC's Damien Arguello that was the dagger for the Badgers. It came in the fifth minute of the second 10-minute overtime period. The goal was unassisted and handed Snow College its second loss in as many games.
SLCC made it tough for the Badgers in the first half allowing just one shot through the first 45 minutes. The Bruins were able to put up a total of nine shots throughout regulation, seven of which were on goal, but Snow College keeper Nick McNeil was able turn away each one of the attempts.
The Badgers defense remained strong throughout overtime allowing only two total shots - one in each period - but its was Arguello's lone shot in the second overtime that resulted in the golden-goal victory for the Bruins.
Snow College will now put its focus on Truckee Meadows Community College. The Badgers will take on the Lizards Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in Reno, Nevada. Visit snowbadgers.com for additional information.
