The Snow College women's volleyball team earned a 3-0 sweep over the College of Southern Idaho in Thursday's home opener and first game of Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
The Badgers came out of the gates slow and trailed 14-8 midway through the first set. They would rally and eventually take a 19-17 lead before slamming the door with a 25-23 victory.
It was a true back-and-forth second set. There was a total of six lead changes and eight ties during the set. Snow College eventually closed out the set with an 8-3 run to earn a 25-22 set-two victory.
The Badgers mostly controlled the third set and led by as many as eight points during the stanza. The Golden Eagles would put together a small comeback and bring the score to 22-19 before Snow College won three out of the last four points to win the set 25-20.
Macie Gordon led the attack for the Badgers with 10 kills followed closely by
Bailey Rasmussen and Ashlynn Olsen, who each finished with nine kills.
Corinne Taysom had 22 assists, while
Meg Carter provided 14 helpers. Two Badgers had double-digit digs with
Kesa Makasini having 11 and
Hannah Smith recording 10 in the victory.
No. 3 Snow College (11-1; 1-0 SWAC) will continue SWAC play by hosting No. 4 Salt Lake Community College (16-2; 1-0 SWAC) Saturday. The Top-5 matchup will take place at 1 p.m. inside the Horne Activity Center. For video streaming and live stat information, visit snowbadgers.com.
