Badgers Take on Eagles, Spartans in Penultimate Road Trip

GAME NOTES
 
  • Snow College will travel to Price, Utah, and Rangely, Colorado to take on Utah State University Eastern Thursday and Colorado Northwestern Community College Saturday.  
  • Thursday's matchup against the Eagles is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. inside the Bunnell-Dmitrich Athletic Center. Saturday's game against the Spartans is scheduled to tip off at 3:00 p.m. inside Hefley Gym.
  • The Badgers are coming off a 91-76 loss against No. 4 Salt Lake Community College last Thursday in Taylorsville.  Snow College had one of its better shooting performances from the field shooting 52 percent including 61 percent on 2-point field goals.  Snow College shot just 4-16 from beyond the arc.  This was the Badger's first loss all season when shooting better than 50 percent from the field.
  • Snow College has now lost three games in a row and five out of the last six.  This is the first time since the 2020-21 season the Badgers have lost three games in a row.  Snow College lost a pair of matchups against the College of Southern Idaho sandwiching a loss to SLCC that season 
  • UVUE comes into the matchup against the Badgers with a 5-15 overall record and a 3-6 record within the Scenic West Athletic Conference.  The Eagles had to forfeit a handful of wins after a self-reported incident violated NJCAA sanctions.
  • The Badgers defeated the Eagles 66-64 in Price Dec. 14.
  • CNCC enters the weekend matchup with a 2-16 overall record and an 0-7 mark within the SWAC.  The Spartans have lost eight games in a row with their last win coming Dec. 3 in an 87-55 victory over Utah Peaks Prep.
  • Snow College defeated the Spartans 89-61 in Ephraim Dec. 16
UP NEXT
  • Snow College will return to Ephraim to begin its longest home stretch of the season.  The Badgers will play six straight home games beginning with the No. 2 ranked College of Southern Idaho Thursday, Feb. 2.
  • The Golden Eagles are a perfect 23-0 overall this season and 11-0 within conference play.  They defeated the Badgers 101-64 in Twin Falls, Idaho Jan. 5.

LAST TIME OUT
 
The Snow College men's basketball team suffered a 91-76 loss against No. 4 Salt Lake Community College Thursday in Taylorsville. The Badgers have now lost three in a row and five out of the last six dating back to Dec. 27.
 
Snow College came into the game after falling in a tight matchup against the College of Southern Nevada last week.  The Badgers trailed by one point with less than a minute to play but would eventually suffer the 91-87 loss.
 
The Badgers got out to a slow start to begin Thursday's game.  SLCC opened the game on a 16-4 run in the first four and a half minutes.  Snow College shot 57 percent from the field in the first half but had a hard time containing the Bruin's offensive attack.  SLCC also shot 57 percent from the field in addition to going 9-18 from 3-point range.  The Bruins went into the halftime break leading 54-39.
 
SLCC extended its lead to 69-48 with 13:25 to go in the second half.  The Bruins would lead by as many as 24 points in the second half.  Snow College would cut into the deficit but would ultimately suffer a 91-76 loss.  
 
The Badgers would end up shooting 52 percent from the field but connected on just 25 percent from beyond the arc throughout the game.  SLCC, the nation's number four scoring offense, shot 52 percent from the field while going 11-28 from distance.  
 
Zach Visentin scored a career-high 29 points to lead all scorers while also grabbing eight rebounds.  Clayton Southwick put in 17 points while Chase Potter had 11 points for the Badgers.
