Men's Soccer Wraps Up Regular Season vs USUE, CNCC

OPENING KICKOFF: This week, the Snow College men's soccer team will be on the road taking on Utah State University Eastern in Price Thursday at 3:30 p.m. Following that game, they will face Colorado Northwestern Community College Saturday at 1:30 p.m in Rangely.

The Badgers are currently ranked fifth in the Scenic West Athletic Conference standings, right behind Truckee Meadows Community College, and need to climb to fourth in order to squeeze into the Region 18 Tourament. In order for this to happen, the Badgers will have to win these two games to improve their record to 6-5-1. Then, with the luck of having the College of Southern Nevada beat TMCC in the final game of the regular season, Snow College would secure a spot in the playoffs.

KNOW YOUR FOE: USUE is currently 9-2-1 with a conference record of 7-2-1. The last time the Badgers took on the Eagles, they fought an intense battle through the entire game until they suffered a heartbreaking loss of 1-0 with a goal in the fifty fourth minute from Casey Stracher.

Colorado Northwestern Community College's record stands at 4-10-1. Last time the Badgers took on the Spartans, they defeated them 6-0. The Snow College Badgers came out fast and scoring first in the fifth minute from Victor Flores. Then once again, in the sixteenth minute, by Jack Cook.

The Badgers have never lost to CNCC. Winning this game would make it the nineteenth consecutive win against the Spartans since the program started in 2016.

LAST TIME OUT: The Snow College soccer team claimed a pair of victories over the weekend against Pacific Northwest Christian College and Truckee Meadows Community College. The Badgers defeated the Gladiators 21-0 and earned a 4-2 win over the Lizards.

Snow College entered the weekend following a loss at the hands of the College of Southern Nevada.  The Badgers surrendered a season-high four goals against the Coyotes to suffer the 4-1 defeat.

The meeting with the Gladiators was the second of the season for the two teams.  Snow College won the first matchup with a convincing 6-0 victory on Sept. 16.  Thursday's matchup was the most dominant victory for the Badgers since the program started in 2016.

The Badgers scored 21 goals against PNCC, which is a school record for goals in a game.  Snow College had only scored double-digit goals once in its history, a 10-goal affair against Western Wyoming Community College in a victory on Sept. 5, 2017.

Nine different Badgers scored against the Gladiators including four that scored two or more goals.  Richard Henry and Tomas Parra each scored five goals.  Hiro Okada recorded four goals while Luis Pantoja scored twice.  The five goals from Henry and Parra are a school record for goals in a game.

The Badgers scored eight goals in the first half while scoring 13 goals in the second half to claim the 21-0 victory.

SWAC AWARD WINNERS: Richard Henry of the Snow College men's soccer team has been named the Scenic West Athletic Conference Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.  This comes following a pair of victories for the Badgers over the weekend in which they scored 25 goals as a team.

Henry scored a school-record five goals in the Badgers 21-0 victory over Pacific Northwest Christian College on Thursday.  The five goals broke the previous record of four which was set by Zachary Liferth in 2022 and Sam Melo in 2017.  Henry also recorded an assist in the match.

Henry followed up his record-setting performance against PNCC with two goals against Truckee Meadows Community College two days later.  He scored both of his goals in the second half to help the Badgers claim the 4-2 victory over the Lizards.

Henry, a sophomore from Brown's Town, Jamaica, has played in 10 of the Badgers 12 games this season while starting in six matches.  He currently leads the team in total goals this season with 10.

Last season, Henry scored a total of four goals throughout the season while recording an assist in 17 matches for the Badgers.

In addition to Henry receiving SWAC Player of the Week Honors, Nick McNeil of the Snow College men's soccer team has been named the Scenic West Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Week, the conference announced Monday.  This comes after McNeil allowed just two goals over the weekend against Pacific Northwest Christian College and Truckee Meadows Community College.

McNeil started in both games over the weekend and helped the Badgers secure their fourth shutout victory of the season over PNCC.  With the shutout, McNeil earned his third victory of the season in goal.

McNeil picked up his fourth win of the year two days later as the Badgers claimed a 4-2 victory over the TMCCLizards.  McNeil allowed just the two goals to TMCC while saving three total shots on goal throughout the match to aid in the victory.

McNeil, a sophomore from Draper, Utah, has played in 11 of the Badger's 12 matches this season, starting in 10 games.  He's allowed 11 total goals throughout the season and sports a goals-against average of 1.36 on the year.

Last season as a freshman, McNeil played and started in all but one match for the Badgers as he allowed a total of 26 goals while compiling 54 saves including a 10-save performance in the Badgers 3-2 victory against Salt Lake Community College in the Region 18 Tournament Championship last season.

UP NEXT: With the combination of these next games, the outcome is unpredictable. These next two games will wrap up the regular season for the Badgers.  They likely need two wins and a TMCC defeat to send them into the playoffs. For additional information, visit snowbadgers.com.
