Last week, the Snow College women's basketball team took on some fierce competition in Rock Springs, WY, defeating Laramie County Community College 77-67 and losing to Western Wyoming Community College by one point, 71-70.

The Badgers had only faced the Golden Eagles one other time, and that match was another victory for them. Once again, the Badgers brought their A-game quickly, outsourcing LCCC in the first quarter, 14-11.With some quick adjustments, the Badgers come out stronger, scoring 25 more points the next quarter, while the Golden Eagles only put up 13.Â

From there on out, the Badgers scored a consistent 19 points for both the third and fourth quarters, and the Golden Eagles could not score enough on the tough Badger defense. The Badgers would win this game with some high scoring players and impressive stats.

Brooke Pennington had a career game with 16 points on 7-8 shooting to lead all scorers for the Badgers. Emily Evans put in 15 points and was a perfect 5-5 from the charity stripe. Ainsley Thurber had 10 points for the Badgers in the victory.

That next day, the Badgers took on the Mustangs for the second time this season, and the Mustangs scored more than the Badgers in the first quarter, 23-14. After that, the Badgers fought back and went into halftime ahead by one point, 39-38.Â

The third quarter was a tight defensive set, with the Badgers only scoring 11 points and the Mustangs only scoring nine points. Although the Badgers did all they could, they could not stop the Mustangs from outscoring them in the fourth quarter, making the final score 71-70.

Kiriana Hawaikirangi led the team with 12 points and seven rebounds. This was also a career high scoring game for Hawaikirangi. Evans was right behind her with 11 points and eight rebounds. Pennington and Thurber both chipped in 10 points for the Badgers in the loss.

This week, the Badgers will be in Price, Utah, and will participate in the Eagle Classic where they will take on a pair of opponents beginning with Treasure Valley Community College Friday at 3:00 p.m. They will have a rematch with LCCC the following day with tip off scheduled for 11:00 a.m. For video streaming and live stat information, please visit snowbadgers.com
