The Snow College women's basketball team has won four out of its last five games after coming home from the Eagle Classic Tournament with two victories. The Badgers took on Treasure Valley Community College defeating them 85-46. The following day the Badgers also defeated Laramie County Community College with a score of 67-48.
Against TVCC, the Badgers had a very good start, scoring the first six points in the first quarter. The rest of the quarter was a battle for rebounds, but they closed out the quarter ahead 17-12.Â

The Badgers began the second quarter on an 18-7 run increasing their lead to 37-19. For the rest of the quarter, the Snow College defense limited TVCC to just eight points over the final five minutes of action, and the Badgers took a 42-27 lead into the halftime break. Â

Coming out of halftime, The Badgers did well with steals and rebounds running up the score and winning the third quarter, 22-12. In the fourth quarter, the Badgers were dominant, shutting down TVCC to only seven points.Â

The Badgers played some great defense and were able to get the ball back as much as possible in order to close out the game. The Badgers scored 21 points in the final quarter making the final score 85-46.

Kiriana Hawaikirangi had a career game this weekend scoring 14 points and had six steals. Madison Hosino and Ainsley Thurber also recorded career highs throughout the game. Hosino had 16 points and Thurber had 15 points and nine rebounds. Â

As a team, the Badgers recorded 21 steals during the game. This is the most steals they have had as a team since they had 23 steals in a 97-49 victory against Northeastern Junior College Nov. 20, 2021.

The next day the Badgers faced the Golden Eagles. The Badgers started the quarter pretty evenly with LCCC, until about halfway through they went on an 11-2 run. The Badgers ended up winning the quarter 21-10.Â

In the second quarter, things seemed to slow down a bit, and the Badgers were not able to put up as many points as before. Both teams had quite a few turnovers and didn't have as many opportunities to score. The Badgers did capitalize on their offensive opportunities, shooting 58 percent from the field in the second quarter, and went into halftime leading 39-22.Â

Coming out of halftime, LCCC fought back hard making it difficult for the Badgers to score. The Badgers stuck it out with some hard defense and ended up taking a 26-point lead into the fourth quarter.Â

Entering the fourth quarter, LCCC came out firing scoring six points within the first two minutes. The Badgers responded with some 3-pointers mid-way through challenging the Golden Eagles' defense. The Badger maintained the momentum throughout the rest of the quarter and earned the 57-48 victory.

Hosino put up 11 points while shooting 3-6 from 3-point range to help the Badgers to victory. Ainsley Thurber secured her first double-double of her career, scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds.Â

Up next, the Badgers will be on the road once again and travel to Casper, WY for the Vista Auto Thanksgiving Classic Tournament. They will face Western Wyoming Community College, a rematch of last week's game, in which the Badgers were defeated in the final seconds. They will also face Casper College. Â
