Women's Basketball Splits Games Over Thanksgivng Weekend

The Snow College women's basketball team split a pair of games at the Vista Auto Thanksgiving Classic Tournament. The Badgers defeated Western Wyoming Community College 82-68. The following day, they faced Casper College and lost 92-63.

The Badgers started their tournament facing the Mustangs. The last time these teams faced each other, the Mustangs defeated the Badgers in the final seconds. 

The Badgers had a slower start in the first quarter, not scoring as many points as the Mustangs. The Badgers were able to fight back, however, and they found themselves leading by the time they went into halftime, 34-31.

During the second half, the Badgers came out strong, scoring heavily against the Mustangs. They put up 11 more points than the Mustangs did in the second half. Making the final score 82-68. 

Ainsley Thurber had a career-high scoring game, scoring 18 points and had 6 rebounds. Madison Hosino had a high-scoring game as well, putting up 13 points. Right behind her was Iyana Beh, with a career-high of 12 points. Emily Evans had 11 points and six rebounds, helping lead the Badgers to victory.

The next day, the Badgers faced the Thunderbirds. The Badgers had a rough first quarter, only scoring 16 points. The Thunderbirds put up 30 points in the opening stanza, putting the Badgers in a bad position. By the time halftime came, the Badgers were down 18 points.

The Badger increased their offensive output in the second half, scoring 36 total points; however, they were unable to overcome the deficit and ended up suffering a 92-63 loss.

Thurber once again led the Badgers in scoring, putting up 12 points. Hosino added 11 points in the loss.

This week, the Badgers will be on the road once again. They will travel to Lamar, Colorado, to participate in the Lamar Community College Tournament. They will face Lamar Community College Dec. 1 at 5:00 p.m. The following day, the Badgers will take on Trinidad State at 12 p.m. For additional information, visit snowbadgers.com.
