Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Snow College Athletics Media Relations

Men's Basketball Remains Undefeated with Wins Over Chukars, Gators

The Snow College men's basketball team earned a pair of victories against Treasure Valley Community College and Green River College at the Thanksgiving Classic in Ephraim.  The 9-0 record is the best start to a season the Badgers have had since they started the 2018-19 campaign 13-0.

The Badgers entered the weekend off a pair of victories against Casper College and Eastern Wyoming College last weekend at the Snow College Classic.  They defeated the Thunderbirds 88-74 followed by a 101-74 victory against the Lancers.

Snow College had its best opening first half of the season as it scored 68 points in the first 20 minutes of action.  After the Chukars jumped out to a 5-2 lead, Dylan Jones caught fire.  He hit back-to-back 3-pointers to give the Badgers their first lead of the game.

Jones once again hit 3-pointers on consecutive possessions a few minutes later to give the Badgers an 11-point lead.  His hot shooting became incandescent towards the end of the first half as he drilled four consecutive triples to give the Badgers a 52-24 lead.

Jones finished the first half with 26 points on 9-14 shooting.  The entire Chukars team scored just 26 points in the first half.  The Badgers had their largest first-half lead of the season as they went into halftime up 68-26.  They shot 64 percent from the field and 52 percent from beyond the arc while making 11 total 3-pointers, eight of which were from Jones.

The halftime break didn't cool off Jones' hot shooting as he hit back-to-back 3-pointers just a few minutes into the second half.  In all, Jones made 10 3-pointers, which ties a school record for 3-pointers in a game.  The previous record was set by Logan Hokanson, who made 10 triples in a 131-80 victory against Impact Academy Dec. 15, 2018.

The Badgers cruised in the second half and went on to earn the 113-73 victory.  As a team, they shot 60 percent from the field and 45 percent from beyond the arc throughout the game.  They made a total of 14 3-pointers, their highest total in a game this season.

Jones led all scorers with a career-high 34 points.  This is the highest point total a Badger has scored since Travis Wagstaff scored 35 points in a 102-83 victory over the College of Southern Nevada March 16, 2021.  Max Triplett scored 16 points and secured seven rebounds on 6-8 shooting.  Isaac Finlinson put in 15 points while Colin Christensen and Gaige Savage added 12 points apiece in the win.

Following the victory against the Chukars, the Badgers carried the hot shooting into their matchup against the Gators.  Snow College shared the ball well in the first half as it recorded 15 assists on 21 made field goals.  The Badgers shot a whopping 70 percent from the field and 60 percent from 3-point range in the first half.

The Badgers extended their lead throughout the second half.  They led by as many as 18 points with six and a half minutes left in the period.  The Gators fought back and trimmed the lead to five points with under 90 seconds to play.  The Badgers finished the game with a quick 5-0 burst to claim the 100-90 victory.

The shooting cooled for the Badgers in the second half, but they still shot a stout 58 percent from the field and 47 percent from beyond the arc.  They scored 100 points for the third consecutive game and the fourth time overall this season.  As a team, they are currently averaging 95 points per game.

Triplett led the way with his second double-double of the season scoring 25 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.  Christensen stuffed the stat sheet with 16 points, six rebounds and six assists. Jones put in 12 points while Gaige Savage added 11 points.  Mark Brown scored 10 points and dished out eight assists in the win.

The Badgers will wrap up its current seven-game home stretch at the Region 1/Region 18 Challenge.  They will take on Eastern Arizona College Thursday at 7:00 p.m. before a matchup with Arizona Western College Friday at 7:00 p.m.  For video streaming and live stat information, visit snowbadgers.com.
