Men's Basketball Culminates Homestand with Victories over EAC, AWC

The Snow College men's basketball team had an undefeated weekend in the Region 1/ Region 18 challenge and defeated Eastern Arizona College 92-83, and Arizona Western College 80-66.

The Badgers took on EAC in the second game of the first night. The lead teetered back and forth for much of the first half. The Badgers used a quick 8-0 burst thanks to a pair of 3-pointers from Isaac Garrett and Coleman Ford to give them a 9-point lead.  From there on out, the Badgers held the lead for the remainder of the half.

To begin the second half, the Badgers started with a quick five points.  Shortly thereafter, the Badgers went on a 15-0 run, giving them a 25-point lead. EAC fought back and went on a 10-0 run of their own, eventually cutting the lead to just seven points.  The Badgers were resilient and held the Gila Monsters at bay,l capturing the 92-83 victory.

Max Triplett had 24 points and eight rebounds, making him the leading scorer for the Badgers that night. Mark Brown Jr. scored 15 points, while Colin Christenson and Isaac Finlinson chipped in 12 points, helping the Badgers to victory.

The next day, the Badgers faced AWC and came into the game hot with back-to-back 3-pointers. That would be the biggest gap in the game for the first half. No team got more than six points from each other. The game was so tight that in the first half alone, there were 10 lead changes.

Once the second half started, the rallying became the same as in the first half. Until the final seven minutes, the Badgers would go on a 17-0 run and put them in the lead for good. Although the Badgers never relinquished the lead again, AWC did fight back and trimmed the lead to just four points with three minutes to play. In those final minutes, the Badgers went on a 10-0 run to win the game by a score of 80-66.

As a team, the Badgers distributed the ball effectively throughout the game.  They handed out 20 assists on 28 made field goals against the Matadors, which is their highest percentage of assists on field goals this season.

Finlinson led all scorers with 16 points on 4-7 shooting from beyond the arc. Christensen added 15 points and five assists, while Gaige Savage chipped in 11 points and grabbed five rebounds in the victory.
