Badgers Defeated by Coyotes in Las Vegas

The Snow College women's soccer team was defeated by the College of Southern Nevada 3-2 Saturday in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Three goals in the second half for the Coyotes proved to be the difference in the match.

Snow College entered the weekend matchup coming off a thrilling 2-1 victory over No. 2 Salt Lake Community College the week prior.  Saige Meryhew and Daisha Wagner both scored goals in the final 22 minutes of action to give the Badgers the victory.

The Badgers broke things open in the 34th minute as Madelyn McQueen fed a pass to Olivia Kaneen, who beat the keeper to give the Badgers the 1-0 lead.

Kaneen was on the other end of the scoring combination a few minutes later.  Emily Morrill took the pass from Kaneen and scored in the 37th minute.  Snow College would take the 2-0 lead into the halftime break.

The Badgers dominated offensively in the first half putting up 15 shots in the first 45 minutes.  Defensively, Snow College allowed just six Coyote shots in the first half.

Things turned in the second half as the Coyotes outshot the Badgers 14-9.  CSN scored early following halftime cutting the deficit to one just 53 seconds into the second half.

The Coyotes netted the equalizer in the 56th minute.  They delivered the final blow in the 82nd minute and took a 3-2 lead.  Following the go-ahead goal, the Badgers put up four shots in the final seven minutes of action, three of which were turned away by the Coyote keeper allowing CSN to hold on to the 3-2 victory.

The Badgers will now play the next four matches of the season at home beginning with Truckee Meadows Community College Thursday.  The Lizards are 6-2 overall to begin the season and 2-1 within the Scenic West Athletic Conference.  They had won six straight games before losing 3-0 to Utah State University Eastern last Saturday.

Kickoff is slated for 1:00 p.m. at the Snow College Soccer Complex in Ephraim.  For video streaming and live stat information, visit snowbadgers.com.
