Badgers Roll Past Pacific Northwest Christian

The Snow College football team recorded their fourth shutout victory of the season in an 80-0 victory against Pacific Northwest Christian College Saturday in Kennewick, Washington.  The Badgers now sit ay 6-1 overall.

Snow College entered the weekend following a 31-20 loss against No. 2 Iowa Western Community College.  The matchup with the Gladiators served as the final game of the current four-game road swing.  The Badgers will now play three of their remaining four games of the season at home.

The Badgers had their best offensive performance of the season despite turning the ball over on their first possession of the game.  The defense forced a punt on the Gladiators' first possession.  Snow College needed just four plays to score their first of 11 touchdowns of the game.  It was a 34-yard pass from Donnie Smith to Reggie Frischknecht to give the Badgers a 7-0 lead.

Smith would throw two more touchdown passes in the first quarter.  The first of which was a 22-yard pitch and catch to Kache Kaio midway through the opening stanza.  The second was another touchdown pass to Frischknecht, this one was 26 yards to give the Badgers a 21-0 lead.  Frischknecht leads all of Division I in touchdown receptions with 10.

The Badgers scored a pair of rushing touchdowns in the opening minutes of the second quarter.  Drew Patterson took a 37-yard run all the way to the house.  Adonis Tillman found the end zone on the next drive from 56 yards out to give the Badgers a 35-0 lead.

The next two touchdowns came on long, sustained drives for the Badgers.  They used an 11-play, 53-yard drive which culminated in an 11-yard touchdown pass from Smith to Matt Wilson.  The final score of the first half came on the heels of a 10-play, 68-yard drive as Smith threw his fifth touchdown pass of the game to Kaden Eggett.

The Badgers recorded their first successful field goal of the season in the early minutes of the second half.  After the drive stalled, Ethan Mann drilled a 44-yard field goal to extend the lead to 52-0.  Kyson Condie shouldered much of the load for the Badgers on their next drive as he had a pair of rushes totaling 29 yards.  The second of which was a 2-yard carry that found the endzone.

The Badgers' defense got in on the scoring fun to begin the fourth quarter.  Ty Smith was able to haul in an interception and return it 35 yards for a touchdown, giving the Badgers a 66-0 lead.  This is the first time since October 1, 2022, the Badgers have returned an interception for a touchdown.

Snow College's final two touchdowns came via the run game as Drew Patterson scored on the ground from two yards out.  Easton Bretzon scored on a 7-yard rush to bring the score to 80-0 on the Badgers' final drive of the game.

The Badgers racked up 573 yards of total offense.  Defensively, Snow College held the Gladiators to negative 11 yards of total offense throughout the game.  This is the first game allowing negative yards to an opponent since allowing negative 12 yards in a 77-0 victory against Gordon's Fine Arts Academy during the 2020 season.

Smith finished with 240 yards and five touchdown passes.  He leads the nation in touchdown passes with 25, four ahead of the next-highest quarterback.  Patterson recorded 15 carries for 129 yards and two touchdowns.  Frischknecht caught four passes for 80 yards and two touchdowns to aid in the victory.

The Badgers will now return home for the first time in six weeks for their homecoming game.  They will host No. 3 Georgia Military College Saturday inside Terry Foote Stadium.  Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.  For video streaming and live stat information, visit snowbadgers.com.
