The Snow College men's wrestling team had eight wrestlers qualify for the NJCAA National Tournament following a strong performance at the Region 18 Conference Tournament Sunday in Roseburg, Oregon.
Rylee Creasey claimed the Region 18 Title in the 285-pound division.

The Badgers entered the weekend following a pair of victories to culminate the regular season.  They defeated Otero Junior College 41-11 Saturday before earning a 36-18 victory against Trinidad State College Monday in Richfield to wrap up the 2023-24 campaign.

Creasey highlighted the day for the Badgers in the 285-pound division.  He entered into the championship bout following a victory via fall in just 1:03.  In the championship matchup, Creasey dominated to the tune of a 16-1 victory via technical fall to claim the Region 18 crown.

Three other Badgers finished in second place in their respective weight classes. Â
Kasey Curtis received a bye before earning a 14-5 victory via major decision over Kobi Johnson of North Idaho College to enter the championship round.  Curtis suffered a fall in 1:54 to finish in second place in the 133-pound division.

Chandler Thompson also finished in second place in the 184-pound division.  He won by fall in his first matchup before a technical fall victory moved him into the 1
st-place bout.  He lost a tough duel to Noah Poe-Hatten via decision, 7-2.

Christian Slack earned a second-place finish in the 197-pound division.  Following a bye in the first round, Slack defeated Asaiah Kamplain via decision in an 11-10 final score.  Slack then suffered a 7-5 loss via decision in the championship bout to finish in second.

Kyler Pace won his opening-round bout before suffering a loss in the semifinals of the 125-pound class.  He entered the 3
rd-place bout where he claimed the victory via fall in 2:55.

Will Korth also finished in third place after he defeated Jacob Navarro of Southwestern Oregon Community College via fall in just 1:44.

Cael Smith was the other Badgers who finished on the proverbial podium in the 174-pound division.  He suffered a loss via technical fall in the semifinal matchup before winning two consecutive bouts, both of which by fall, the final won in 3:25 over Micaiah Montalbin of Southwestern Oregon Community College.

Caleb Marx was the eighth Badger to qualify for nationals as he finished in fourth place.

As a team, the Badgers finished in third place behind Clackamas Community College and North Idaho College.

Following the strong performance at the Region 18 Conference Tournament, the Badgers will now prepare for the NJCAA National Tournament which will take place Friday March 1, and Saturday, March 2 in Council Bluffs, Iowa.  For additional information, visit snowbadgers.com.
