Women's Soccer Splits Matches Against SLCC, CNCC

The Snow College women's soccer team splits weekend matches against No. 9 Salt Lake Community College and No. 19 Colorado Northwestern Community College. The Badgers dropped the match against SLCC 2-0 Thursday followed by a 4-1 victory Saturday over CNCC.

The Badgers entered the weekend with a 4-0 overall record for the season. They were coming off a 4-2 victory over Utah State University Eastern Saturday Sept. 7.

The Bruins opened the scoring for Thursday's matchup in the eighth minute and extended their lead to two in the 40th minute. No goals were scored by either team in the second half, and SLCC earned the 2-0 victory. 

Hayley Ogden turned away four SLCC shots on goal while the Badgers took two shots on goal, both being saved by the Bruins' goalkeeper. 

Following the loss, the Badgers turned the weekend around with a victory over CNCC. Snow College has won every matchup against the Spartans in program history.

The Badgers opened up the scoring on a goal by Bailee Ballard assisted by Liv Harding in the 15th minute. Soon after the Badger goal, the Spartans evened the game with a goal in the 22nd minute.

The Badgers didn't score again until the second half with a pair of goals in three minutes. Emily Morrill scored the first of the pair in the 67th minute on a pass by Brooklyn Bradley. The second of the pair was scored by Harding in the 70th minute unassisted.

Ally Johnson extended the Badgers' lead to three in the 90th minute as she beat the keeper to find the back of the net. The Badgers recorded 26 shots while limiting the Spartans to three shots throughout the match.

Ogden tallied one save against the Spartans moving her season save total to 11. The Badgers now hold a 5-1-0 overall record for the 2024 season.

Snow College will continue this home stand Saturday against Pacific Northwest Christian College. Saturday's kickoff is scheduled at 11 a.m. at the Snow College Soccer Complex.
