The Snow College women's basketball team suffered a 61-46 defeat to in-state rival Utah State University Eastern Thursday in Price. The Badgers now sit at 12-6 overall and 1-2 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
The Badgers were coming off a split weekend to begin SWAC play. Snow College dropped to No. 19 Salt Lake Community College 84-52. They then defeated Colorado Northwestern Community College 89-53 to go 1-1 in conference play.
Snow College kept the score close at 14-9 at the end of the first quarter. Brooke Pennington (So./Springville, Utah/Springville HS) scored seven of the nine first=-quarter Badger points.
The Badgers stalled in the second quarter and got outscored 17-5 in the period. Snow College would trail 31-14 entering halftime.
Snow College turned up the heat in the third quarter and scored 15 points, outscoring their first half total. However the Eagles scored 18 and entered the fourth quarter with a 20-point lead.
The Badgers played their best quarter in the fourth period, outscoring the Eagles 17-12. However, this would not be enough as the Badgers eventually fell 61-46.Â
Pennington was the only Badger to score double figures with 19 points, her 13th double figure game of the season. Four different Badgers all recorded 5 rebounds throughout the game.
The Badgers will now return home to play their first conference home games of the season. Snow College will first host North Idaho College Thursday at 5:00 p.m.Â
