The Snow College softball team saw its first home action of the 2026 season against No. 22 College of Southern Idaho last weekend, where the Badgers took game two of the four-game set in walk-off fashion, 6-5.
The Badgers are coming off their conference opener against North Idaho College, where they took games one and four of the four-game set, 14-8 and 9-4.
CSI opened game one, getting on the board early with three runs in the top of the first inning, and added four in the top of the second. The Badgers struggled for the majority of game one, accumulating just one hit and three walks. CSI would close the game with a pair of runs in the fifth for the 8-0 victory after five innings.
Game two saw CSI get on board first in the top of the third inning, before
Chloe Tycksen drove in the Badgers' first run of the series on a single down the left field line in the bottom of the fifth. The Badgers piled on the scoring in the bottom of the sixth as
Taimane Laolagi-Aloy hit a lead-off home run to left field before
Brooke Fisher hit her own three-run homer to center field.
CSI responded in the top of the seventh, stringing together four runs to tie the game at five heading into the final frame. In the bottom of the seventh,
Grace Thomas had a lead-off single to shallow left field.
She advanced to second on a
Loreal Gonzalez sacrifice bunt down the third base line, and a throwing error by the third baseman allowed her to reach third. Laolagi-Aloy walked, and
Gigi Hall would secure the win with a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring Thomas, winning the game 6-5.
The Golden Eagles got out to an early lead in game three as they put up five runs in the first inning. The Badgers answered with a two-run homer from Gonzalez in the bottom of the first. CSI then outscored the Badgers 15-1 over the remainder of the game for the 20-3 win after five.
The final game of the four-game set followed a similar pattern to the previous games as CSI got a run on the board in the first inning. Fisher would get the Badgers on the board with a solo shot to left field in the bottom of the first.
CSI outpaced the Badgers with five runs in the top of the second before the Badgers scored two in the bottom of the inning off a Fisher double and a Tycksen single. CSI extended its lead to eight by the end of the third and added a run in the top of the fourth.
The Badgers tallied two of their own in the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings on a Tycksen single to center field that scored
Madison Salisbury and a Laolagi-Aloy sacrifice fly to center that scored
Claire Yates. CSI closed the game in the sixth inning with three more runs, keeping the Badgers off the board for the 15-5 win.
Fisher led the Badgers offensively, going 7-12 from the plate with two home runs and five RBIs. Tycksen followed closely behind, going .500 from the dish (6-12) with four RBIs.
Snow College will hit the road against its in-state rival, No. 21 Salt Lake Community College, March 20 and 21. The first pitch of game one will be thrown at 1:00 p.m., with day two slated to begin at 12:00 p.m. For video streaming and live stat information, visit snowbadgers.com.
