The Snow College softball team opened the second round of conference play, winning three of the four games against North Idaho College over the weekend. The Badgers took games one, two, and four by scores of 2-1, 12-1, and 5-1, respectively.
The Badgers are coming off a visit to Helper, where they took one of four against Utah State University Eastern, 11-3.
Game one was a defensive fight as the Badgers got on the board in the bottom of the second off a
Grace Thomas single up the middle. NIC tallied a run of its own in the top of the fifth. The Badgers then scored the winning run in the bottom of the sixth on a
Mallory Kelsey single, closing the game, 2-1.
Game two saw the Badgers' offense explode out of the gate, putting up nine runs in the bottom of the first.
Brooke Fisher started the scoring train with a lead-off home run, followed by a
Bree Garcia grand slam, a
Taimane Laolagi-Aloy single, and three runs off NIC errors.
The Badgers added three more in the third, with Fisher's second homer of the day, another Laolagi-Aloy single, and an
Avery Thorkelson single through the left side. NIC scored a run in the top of the fourth, but it wasn't enough to overcome the run rule, with the game ending after five, 12-1.
The Badgers' offense cooled down to start day two as they went down 4-0 by the end of the third inning with just one hit. NIC added another run in the top of the fourth before the Badgers got on the board in the fifth on a
Brynlee Riedle solo shot. NIC closed the game with one more run in the sixth to take game three, 6-1.
The final game of the four-game set had the Badgers strike first in the bottom of the second on a
Nev Carrasquel double, and Fisher's sac fly to put the Badgers up 2-0. Laolagi-Aloy added to score with a two-run double in the fifth.
NIC pushed across a run in the sixth on a homer to break up the shutout. The Badgers responded with a run in the bottom of the frame off a Fisher bunt, scoring
Gigi Hall, to keep their lead at four and close out the game 5-1.
Fisher led the Badgers from the dish, going 6-12 with two homers, two walks, and four RBIs. Riedle followed closely behind, going 4-9 from the plate with one homer, a triple, and two stolen bases.
Snow College will hit the road for the final time in the 2026 regular season to take on the College of Southern Idaho. Game one of the four-game set is slated to start at 1:00 p.m., with day two starting at 12:00 p.m. For video streaming and live stat information, visit snowbadger.com.
