Badgers Suffer Sweep in Gemstone State Against No. 25 CSI

The Snow College softball team hit the road for the final time against No. 25 College of Southern Idaho in Twin Falls, Idaho. The Badgers suffered their second sweep of the season and currently sit at fourth in the Scenic West Athletic Conference Standings.

The Badgers are coming off a home series against North Idaho College, where they took three of the four games by scores of 2-1, 12-1, and 5-1.

CSI opened the scoring in game one with a run in the bottom of the first inning. The Badgers responded in the top of the third with a pair of back-to-back home runs from Taimane Laolagi-Aloy and Rian Howland. CSI bounced back with a two-run hammer and an additional run in the bottom of the third to take a 4-2 lead.

Laolagi-Aloy helped the Badgers close the gap with a single to left that scored Gigi Hall in the top of the fourth. Hall then turned around and drove in Bree Garcia in the top of the fifth and was then driven in herself by Grace Thomas to tie the game at 5-5. CSI tallied three runs in the bottom of the inning and held the score for the rest of the game to take it, 8-5.

Game two saw the Badgers score first with a Laolagi-Aloy single to center that allowed Thomas to round the bases. The Golden Eagles then started to take over the game as they scored two runs in both the bottom of the first and second. They then had a four-piece in the third and the game-winning run in the bottom of the fifth to finish the game 9-1.

Hall scored the first runs of game three with a two-run shot to center field in the top of the second. CSI responded with three runs in the bottom of the frame.

The Badgers reclaimed the lead with a Thomas single to deep center field that scored two runs. CSI took control of the game as it scored nine unanswered runs over the remainder of the game to take game three, 13-4 after six innings.

CSI opened game four by reaching home base in the bottom of the first. Carrasquel got the Badgers on the board in the top of the third with a solo shot to left. The Golden Eagles added two more in the bottom of the third to recapture a 3-1 lead.

Hall doubled in the fourth, which scored two and tied the game. CSI went on to score five unanswered runs to secure the sweep, 8-3.

Hall led the Badgers, going 4-7 with three walks, a home run, and three RBIs. Howland was right behind, going 4-9 with two walks and a home run.
