The Snow College women's soccer team dropped a pair of matches to No. 5 Iowa Western Community College and No. 11 Indian Hills Community College over the weekend at the IHCC Classic.
The Badgers opened the tournament Thursday against IWCC, falling 1-0 to the Reivers.
IWCC scored the match's lone goal 5:42 into the first half. The Badgers were unable to find an equalizer despite recording seven shots, including one on goal. The Reivers finished with six shots, including four on goal.
Anna Monson recorded a shot in the 26th minute, while Lydia Neville nearly found the equalizer in the 76th minute when her shot struck the crossbar.
Snow College finished with two corner kicks compared to IWCCs three. The Reivers entered the match unbeaten and had not allowed a goal through their first two matches of the season.
The Badgers returned to action Saturday against IHCC, falling 3-0 to the Warriors.
Snow College created an early opportunity in the sixth minute when Kalle Jackson's header struck the crossbar. The Badgers continued to generate chances early, including two shots from Summer Long and a pair of corner kicks.
Despite Snow College's early pressure, IHCC scored in the 18th minute before adding another goal three minutes later in the 21st minute. The Badgers continued to create scoring opportunities throughout the match, but the Reivers's goalkeeper made nine saves to preserve the shutout.
The Warriors added their third goal in the 55th minute to secure the 3-0 victory.
Despite the loss, Snow College controlled much of the offensive pressure, outshooting Indian Hills 23-5 and holding a 9-4 advantage in shots on goal. The Badgers also led 10-3 in corner kicks.
The Badgers travel to Rangely, Colorado, to face Colorado Northwestern Community College Sept. 5 at 1:00 p.m. Snow College will then host its first home match of the season against Salt Lake Community College Sept. 10 at 1:00 p.m. in Ephraim.
