The Snow College volleyball team competed at the Laramie County Community College Invitational in Wyoming over the weekend, finishing the two-day event with a pair of victories.
The Badgers opened the invitational Friday with a 3-0 sweep of Colby Community College. Snow College recorded 37 kills compared to 25 for the Trojans and held a 6-0 advantage in blocks. The Badgers also totaled 39 digs, while CCC recorded 38.
Lily Grant led the badgers with 23 assists, while Aleah McDaniel and Saidey Spencer each recorded 10 digs.
Snow College continued Friday with a 3-1 victory over Casper College. The Badgers opened the match with a commanding 25-12 win before taking the second set 25-20. The Thunderbirds responded with a 25-18 victory in the third set, but Snow College closed out the match with a 25-20 win in the fourth.
The Badgers held advantages in several statistical categories, recording 48 kills to Casper's 37 and 11 blocks to the Thunderbirds' six. Snow College also totaled 67 digs compared to 64 for Casper.
McDaniel led the Badgers with 17 kills, while Grant recorded 30 assists and 22 digs.
Snow College returned to action Saturday against New Mexico Military Institute, falling 3-1. The Badgers dropped the opening set 25-14 before responding with a 25-22 victory in the second. NMMI narrowly took the final two sets 25-23 and 25-22 to secure the match.
The Badgers recorded 42 kills and seven blocks, compared to 50 kills and five blocks for the Broncos. Snow College also totaled 52 digs.
Britani Stone and Grant tied for the team lead with 13 digs each, while Grant added 28 assists. Hallie Layton led the Badgers with 12 kills.
Snow College closed the invitational against Northeastern Junior College, falling 3-1. The Badgers dropped the first set 25-22 before bouncing back with a 25-16 victory in the second. NJC took the third set 25-20 and closed out the match with a 25-22 win in the fourth.
McDaniel and Marli Vaea led Snow College with 13 kills each, while Grant recorded 37 assists. Stone led the Badgers with 24 digs.
The Badgers will return to action Sept. 4-5 at the Starr Corporation Invitational in Twin Falls, Idaho, where they will face Treasure Valley Community College, Western Nebraska Community College and Central Wyoming College. For live stats and streaming information, visit snowbadgers.com.Â
