GAME NOTES

• The Snow College football team will host No. 7 Trinity Valley Community College Saturday at 7:00 p.m. inside Terry Foote Stadium. This will be the second of four home games for the Badgers during the regular season.

 

• Snow College is coming off a 35-30 defeat against Kilgore College last weekend in Texas. Despite forcing six first-half turnovers, the Badgers surrendered 28 second-half points to suffer the loss.

 

• The Badgers forced six turnovers against the Rangers. This is the most turnovers they have forced in a game since securing seven turnovers in a 35-18 victory against New Mexico Military Institute Nov. 2, 2024.

 

• The Badgers allowed 299 rushing yards against the Rangers. It's the most rushing yards they have allowed since giving up 322 rushing yards against the Army JV team Sept. 15, 2025.

 

• Two quarterbacks played for the Badgers last weekend against Kilgore. Steve Smedley and Dylan Story combined to go 28-46 for 256 yards and three touchdowns. Snow College is averaging just under 200 passing yards per game this season.

 

• The Badgers will play three of their five remaining games of the regular season at home. Snow College is 26-5 under Head Coach Zac Erekson in home games. Over the past two seasons, the Badgers are 7-3 inside Terry Foote Stadium.

 

• This will be the second ranked team the Badgers will face this season. They defeated No. 10 Garden City Community College 31-17 to begin the year. Snow College is 12-13 against ranked opponents under Erekson.

 

• Under Erekson, the Badgers have only lost games in consecutive weeks one other time. They are 9-1 in games following a loss in the previous week.

 

• TVCC enters play Saturday with a 2-1 overall record and a 2-0 mark within Southwest Junior College Football Conference play. After suffering a 49-10 loss to Georgia Military College to begin the season, the Cardinals defeated Kilgore and Tyler College.

 

• Snow College is 2-1 all time against TVCC but lost their most recent meeting – a 31-24 defeat in Malakoff, Texas, to begin the 2023 season. The Badgers won their lone home game with the Cardinals in a 36-14 victory Aug. 25, 2022.

 
BADGERS ON THE AIR: All Snow College home games this season will be broadcast by SnowTV. They will air on the SnowTV YouTube channel as well as on CentraCom channel 10. Home games will also be simulcast on the radio on KMTI 650 AM.
 
Tanner Wilkinson, who is in his second season as 'Voice of the Badgers,' will be providing the play-by-play for all games broadcast by SnowTV this season. Greg Sterner, who is entering his 6th season on the broadcast, will provide the color commentary for all home games. Snow College. Audio-only broadcasts will be available for select road games throughout the season.
 
All broadcasts will begin with a pregame show approximately 20-30 minutes before kickoff and will include exclusive coverage of the game and an interview with head coach Zac Erekson. Post-game shows will begin immediately following the conclusion of the game and will last approximately 15 minutes.

LAST TIME OUT: A 28-point second half and three long touchdown runs helped Kilgore College erase a 16-point halftime deficit and hand Snow College a 35-30 defeat Saturday in Kilgore, Texas.
 
The Badgers forced six turnovers and held Kilgore to 70 passing yards, but the Rangers scored twice on fumble returns and rushed for 299 yards. Kilgore scored 28 consecutive points in the second half to take control after Snow College carried a 23-7 lead into halftime.
 
The game began with a turnover as Steve Smedley was sacked on fourth down during Snow College's opening possession. The ball came loose, and the Rangers recovered and returned it 29 yards for a touchdown. The PAT was good, and Kilgore took a 7-0 lead.
 
A penalty on the ensuing kickoff gave Snow College the ball at the Kilgore 30-yard line. Jadyn Buckner converted a third-and-7 attempt with an 8-yard run before Smedley connected with Rockwell Magleby for 6 yards.
 
Smedley found Lael Rhodes for a 13-yard touchdown on the next play. Ian Sanches converted the extra point to tie the game at 7.
 
The Badgers got the ball right back when Sau Tafisi forced a fumble on Kilgore's first play following the touchdown. Kaleb Miller recovered the ball at the Kilgore 36-yard line, setting up a 50-yard field goal by Sanches that gave Snow College a 10-7 lead.
 
Snow College forced another turnover just eight seconds later. Fale Atuaia recovered a fumble at the Kilgore 28-yard line, and the Badgers needed only one play to capitalize. Smedley found Makai Peterson for a 28-yard touchdown, extending the lead to 17-7.
 
The Snow College defense followed with a three-and-out that included a sack by Jaden Manwaring. The Badgers took over at the Kilgore 42-yard line and moved inside the 15 before settling for a 30-yard field goal from Sanches. Snow College led 20-7 at the end of the first quarter.
 
Kilgore moved the ball across midfield to begin the second quarter, but Will Warner forced a fumble that Manwaring recovered at the Snow College 35-yard line.
 
The Rangers threatened again midway through the quarter, advancing to the Snow College 37. King Mamea forced another fumble, and Angelo Turo recovered it to end the drive.
 
Snow College could not turn either takeaway into points. Kilgore's next possession ended when Meeks Falatea intercepted Christian Nunley on third and 22.
 
Falatea recorded another interception late in the half. He picked off Alijah Freeman and returned the ball 29 yards to the Kilgore 32-yard line with 1:27 remaining.
 
The Badgers converted a fourth-and-6 attempt when Smedley completed a 24-yard pass to Rhodes, moving the ball to the Kilgore four-yard line. Snow College was unable to find the end zone, but Sanches connected on a 20-yard field goal as time expired to give the Badgers a 23-7 halftime lead.
 
Kilgore forced a punt on the opening possession of the second half before creating the first major momentum swing of the final two quarters.
 
Dylan Story completed a pass to Rhodes on Snow College's first offensive play of the half, but the ball came loose. Kilgore recovered the fumble and returned it eight yards for a touchdown. The Rangers completed the 2-point conversion to trim the Snow College lead to 23-15.
 
The Badgers picked up one first down on the ensuing possession before being forced to punt. The Rangers then broke a 62-yard touchdown run on their next offensive play. The 2-point conversion attempt failed, but the Rangers had cut the deficit to 23-21 with 7:35 remaining in the third quarter.
 
Snow College moved into Kilgore territory on its next possession but could not capitalize. A false start put the Badgers behind the chains, and they were forced to punt.
 
The score remained 23-21 until the Rangers took the lead midway through the fourth quarter. Kilgore converted a third-and-10 attempt with a 31-yard pass before a 51-yard run found the end zone, giving the Rangers a 28-23 advantage with 9:29 remaining.
 
Snow College responded by moving across midfield, but a fumble pushed the Badgers back before they were forced to punt. Joseph Brandt pinned Kilgore at its own 1-yard line.
Once again, the Rangers broke another long run – this time a 99-yard touchdown on the first play of the possession. The PAT extended Kilgore's lead to 35-23 with 5:59 remaining.
 
The Badgers threw an interception on their next offensive play, but the defense kept Snow College in the game by forcing a three-and-out.
 
Snow College took over at its own 20-yard line with 5:07 remaining and put together a 12-play, 80-yard touchdown drive. Story converted a fourth-and-1 attempt with a 2-yard run before completing five consecutive passes to move the ball to the Kilgore 14.
 
A roughing the passer penalty gave the Badgers the ball at the 6-yard line, and Story connected with Rhodes for a touchdown. Sanches made the PAT to cut the deficit to 35-30 with 1:24 remaining.
 
Snow College attempted a short kickoff, but Kilgore recovered the ball and ran out the remaining time to secure the victory.
The Badgers finished with 322 yards of offense and held the ball for more than 39 minutes. They also recorded 21 first downs compared with Kilgore's 11.
 
Smedley completed 12 of 21 passes for 145 yards and two touchdowns. Story went 16 of 25 for 111 yards, one touchdown and one interception.
 
Rhodes caught nine passes for 64 yards and two touchdowns. Kade Haroldsen led the Badgers with 77 receiving yards on seven receptions, while Peterson caught five passes for 53 yards and a touchdown. Buckner rushed for 55 yards on 20 carries and added 44 receiving yards.
 
Falatea recorded two interceptions, and the Badgers recovered four Kilgore fumbles. Atuaia led the defense with six tackles, two tackles for loss, a sack and a fumble recovery.
 
Snow College falls to 2-1 overall and 1-1 in Southwest Junior College Football Conference play. The Badgers will return home to take on No. 7 Trinity Valley Community College for homecoming Saturday, Sept. 19, at 7 p.m. inside Terry Foote Stadium. CHASING A RECORD: Zac Erekson owns a 49-16 overall record and sits just five wins behind Bob Stoddard for the all-time wins record at Snow College.
 
Stoddard coached the Badgers for 15 seasons between 1954 and 1968. He accumulated 54 victories during his time on the sideline. Only two other head coaches have surpassed the 50-win mark with the Badgers. Steve Coburn went 53-7 between 2006-10, while Paul Tidwell compiled a 51-26-3 mark from 1987-94.
 
UP NEXT: The Badgers will stay at home and host No. 8 Tyler. Saturday, Sept. 19. The Apaches currently hold a 3-1 overall record after suffering their first loss of the season last weekend to TVCC. The Apaches are 2-2 within SWJCFC play.
