Box Score 4 The Lady Badgers showed improvement in their second week of preseason tournament action, but struggled to close out matches ending the weekend at 0-4.
Despite the losses, Head Coach Cinthia Angus found some positive takeaways from the weekend. "Our team put up a good fight in all the matches we've played in. We did a nice job from the service line and getting teams out of system. We also did a much better job defensively, which has been one of the things we worked on last week."
Â
Snow started the tournament by taking Casper College to five sets 31-29, 24-26, 15-25, 25-12, 13-15, and kept their next match against Northwest College close in all three sets at 23-25, 23-25, 23-25. The Lady Badgers picked up one set in each of their last two matches, but ended up with disappointing losses.
Â
Libero Sydnei Martindale picked up 5.06 digs per set for a total of 81 digs. "Sydnei has done an amazing job in her new role as our libero," says Coach Angus. "Because our defense improved, we get lots of touches which has been giving us a chance to transition. Unfortunately, getting kills when it matters at the end of sets has been a struggle for our team the past two weeks. Our decision-making in crunch time is something we will continue to work on as a young team."
Â
Ally Packard lead the weekend with 39 kills, hitting .212% with 33 digs and 2.4 kills per set.
After a rough start, Coach Angus says, "the maturity level has increased and we are hungry and motivated to get that first win."Â Snow will head to Twin Falls, ID this Friday and Saturday for their next stop in preseason action where they will take on Western Wyoming CC, Central Arizona, Hutchison CC and Central Florida CC.
