Box Score NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nevada (Aug. 26, 2016) — The Snow College women's volleyball team used outstanding ball control and solid serving to knock off No. 20 Yavapai College in three straight sets at the Coyote Invitational on Friday (25-15, 25-15, 25-13.) In the Badgers' season-opener, the team combined for 40 kills on 80 attempts with just nine hitting errors to rack up a solid .388 attack percentage. Snow also totaled 14 aces during the match, including a match-high six aces from sophomore
Sydnie Martindale.
"I couldn't be more pleased with the way we came out and took control of this match," Snow College head coach Jeff Reynolds said. "You never know how the team will respond in the first match of the season, but the girls came out fired up and ready to play. Yavapai had a really nice team with some big-time hitters, including a returning All-American. Our defense did a really nice job of shutting them down, and we were able to execute our offense with a pretty high efficiency due to really solid passing. It was a great way to start the season."
Sophomore
Brin Stewart led the Badgers' offensive attack with 11 kills on 20 attempts (.450), while sophomore Rylee Kate added 8 kills. Sophomore Ally Packard had 7 kills for Snow, while freshman middle blocker
Kelsie Evans added 7 kills. Defensively, redshirt freshman
Rebecca Bigler totaled a team-high four blocks, followed by Stewart and Cate who each had three blocks. Martindale, the returning SWAC Libero of the Year, led the team with 11 digs.
