Box Score TWIN FALLS, Idaho (March 10, 2017) — The Snow College softball team found themselves in a tough fight against a strong Southern Idaho team on Friday afternoon. The bats were strong for both teams as there were 36 runs scored on the day. The Lady Badgers fell to the Golden Eagles 10-7 in game one and lost in game two 10-9.
The Lady Badgers came out swinging against the Lady Golden Eagles as they tacked on 2-runs in the first inning when Alyssa Arslanian blasted a two-run home run to left field. Southern Idaho struck back fast and had a big momentum swing as they scored five in the next half inning. The Badgers weren't down long though as Makenzie Simons hit a grand slam in the top of the third to put the Badgers on top once again 6-5. In the top of the fourth, a ground ball by Sarah Sandberg was enough to score McCall Stoddard and tie the game at 7. A three run blast by Southern Idaho in the fourth inning put a stamp on the game as the Lady Golden Eagles topped the Lady Badgers 10-7 in game one of a four game series. Arslanian and Simons lead the team with one home run a piece, Arslanian had two RBI's and Simons finished with four RBI's.
The Badgers began the game fast once again as Sandberg and Arslanian hit back to back home runs to give the Badgers an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Arslanian continued her dominance at the plate in the top of the fifth inning as she homered for the third time on the day to put the Badgers within striking distance of the Golden Eagles 4-5. In the top of the seventh inning, Sarah Sandberg hit a ground ball to center field and scored Torri Bills which was followed by a Dakota Gee grand slam to put the Badgers up 9-6. Unfortunately, gaining a three run lead in the final inning wasn't enough for Snow College as the Lady Golden Eagles hit a walk-off single to top the Badgers 10-9. Sandberg lead the team with 3-hits and Arslanian lead the team with two home-runs.
Snow College will play another double-header against CSI beginning at 12p.m. tomorrow afternoon.
