Box Score EPHRAIM, Utah (March 17, 2017) — The Snow College softball team wasn't able to put a stamp on a good offensive day as they fell to Salt Lake Community College 11-7 and 8-6 in games one and two of a four game series.
The Lady Badgers started slow as they gave up six runs in the first inning to the Lady Bruins. Dakota Gee and Bailey Vigil homered in the second inning which scored five runs to bring Snow College within one run of SLCC. In the bottom of the third inning, the Badgers tied the game at 6 as Kylie Jeffs singled to right field, bringing in Alyssa Arslanian. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Makenzie Simons singled to right field which scored Vigil for the seventh run of the game for the Badgers. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough as Salt Lake Community College tacked on five runs throughout the remainder of the game to beat Snow College 11-7. Vigil and Gee lead the team with 2 hits each and a combined 5 RBI's in todays loss.
The Badgers struggled through the first five innings as they were held scoreless until a Torri Bills double to left field scored Abby Kennedy to put Snow College on the board for the first time in game two. Simons singled in the next at-bat which scored Bills and McCall Stoddard and cut the SLCC lead to 5-3. The Bruins scored three runs in the top of the seventh, before a last inning Badger rally included a three-run home run by Arslanian. The last inning surge by Snow College wasn't enough as they fell to Salt Lake 8-6. Five Lady Badgers had two hits each while Arslanian lead the team with 3-RBI's.
Snow College will finish their four game series at home against Salt Lake Community College on Saturday March 18, 2017 at 12p.m.
