Box Score RANGELY, Colorado (April 29, 2017) — The Snow College softball team split the series against Colorado Northwestern Community College on Saturday afternoon as they fell in game one 5-3, and held off the resilient Lady Spartans in game two 10-8.
Snow College put their first run on the board in the third inning when McCall Stoddard doubled to center field scoring Whitney Perkins to make the score 2-1. Alyssa Arslanian doubled in the top of the sixth inning to bring home Torri Bills and make the score 2-5 in favor of the Spartans. In the final inning of the game, Madison Parrish doubled to score Haylie Smith. The Lady Badges weren't able to do any more damage as they dropped game one against CNCC 3-5. Stoddard lead the team with three-hits and three Badgers combined for one RBI each to lead the team.
The Lady Badgers jumped all over the Lady Spartan pitching as they jumped to a 10-1 lead going into the fifth inning. Dakota Gee got things going for Snow in the first as she was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to being home Stoddard. Stoddard came up big in the second inning when she hit a three run home run to left. Madison Parrish also singled in the second to bring home McKenzie Simons to put the Badgers on top 5-0. Stoddard once again began the offense in the third inning and she grounded into a fielders choice which scored Perkins to add to the Badger lead. Perkins singled in the fourth to bring home Smith, while another Stoddard home run brought home three more runs in the inning. Although the Badgers had a 10-1 lead in the fourth, they gave up five runs in the fifth and one run in the sixth, but were able to hold off the Spartan offense as they beat CNCC 10-8 to finish the series. Perkins lead the team with three-hits while Stoddard had a scorching day at the plate with seven-RBI's.
Snow College will be back home in Ephraim, Utah to take on Utah State-Eastern on May 5, 2017 at 1p.m. for their final home series.
