Badgers Fall in Overtime at No. 9 Southern Idaho

Box Score TWIN FALLS, Idaho (February 22, 2018) -- Despite leading for over 32 minutes and holding a 14-point lead in the first half, the Snow College men's basketball team dropped an overtime thriller in Twin Falls on Thursday, falling to Southern Idaho 95-87. The Eagles outscored the Badgers 12-4 in the overtime period to clinch at least a share of a first-place tie for the Scenic West Athletic Conference title. The Badgers, meanwhile, will enter next week's SWAC tournament as the no. 4 seed. 

Snow College started the game by outscoring the ninth-ranked Eagles, 22-11, capped by Stockton Shorts three-point midway through the first half. While Southern Idaho managed to chip away at the Badgers' 14-point lead, Snow held a 42-34 advantage at the half. Shorts and Logan Hokanson each had 14 points in the first half, en route to a 30-point night for both players. The Badgers managed to keep a double-digit lead through the first part of the second half; however,  the Golden Eagles posted a 10- run to cut the Badger's lead to 63-61 with 9:00 remaining in the game. From that point on, the lead continued to change with Snow holding a slim 81-80 lead with just :13 second remaining. Roberto Gittens nailed a three-pointer with jsut :09 second left in the game to give CSI the 83-81 advantage. Hokanson drove the lane and dropped a layup as time expried to send the game to overtime. In the extra frame, Southern Idaho outscored Snow, 12-4, to seal the victory. 

Hokanson and Shorts led the Badgers with 30 points each, while Romain Boxus added nine points for Snow. Tracyer Wilson was credited with a team-high 10 rebounds, while Shorts and Jake Bailey each had eight boards. 

Snow will be back in action looking to close out their regular season with a victory as they take on USU Eastern this Saturday in Ephraim. Tip off is slated for 5 p.m. at the Horne Activity Center.
