Box Score 2 EPHRAIM, Utah (March 10, 2018)—The Snow College Lady Badgers finally got to play at home last Friday, winning the first game of a four-game series, 12-9, over the tenth-ranked Golden Eagles of Southern Idaho. But the Eagles came back to win the remaining three games by scores of 15-2, 5-0 and 10-6.
Snow jumped to an eight-run lead in the first inning of Friday's opener, but had to hang on for the 12-9 win as CSI battled back putting four runs on the board in both the second and fourth innings. A three-run rally by the Badgers in the bottom of the fourth proved to be decisive as they took advantage of three Eagle errors. Dakota Hare led Snow at the plate going 4 for 5 while scoring twice and driving in two runs. Brooke Brown went 2 for 4 with three RBI, and Kylie Jeffs was also 2 for 4 with a pair of RBI. Snow starter Sydni Sorensen got the win, but yielded in sixth to lefty reliever Riley Cleverly who shut out CSI over the last two innings.
Game two on Friday, and the rest of the series, was a story of the Badgers not being able to figure out Eagle pitcher Stephanie Zimmerman. She got complete game wins the second game Friday and first game Saturday, and was then credited with the win in relief in Saturday's finale. In all, Zimmerman threw 16 innings, giving up two runs, only one of which was earned.
In the series, Brown finished 6 for 14 at the plate with four RBI, three doubles and a homerun. Sydnie Wilson went 5 for 11 with a double and a homer, and Avery Shields and Torri Bills each had four hits.
Snow (11-7 overall, 3-5 conference) go back on the road this week to take on Salt Lake Community College in doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday in Taylorsville. The 13th ranked Bruins are 6-2 in conference play following a sweep of USU-Eastern this past weekend in Price.
