No. 3 Badgers Heading to National Championship Match After 3-0 Semifinal Win

WEST PLAINS, Mo. (April 16, 2021) -- The third-ranked Snow College women's volleyball team will play for the NJCAA Division-I Women's Volleyball National Championship on Saturday, April 17 after a 3-0 win over Tyler on Friday. The Badgers will take on No. 5 Iowa Western after the Reivers upset top-seed Miami Dade in the semifinals.

Friday's win over the Apaches marked the second three-game sweep of the national tournament for the Badgers, and their third 3-0 sweep in the last four matches. Snow took the first set 25-17, followed by a 25-20 win in the second set, and then sealed its trip to the first-ever National Championship appearance in school history with a 25-18 win in the third and final set.

"Tonight's win was incredible," Snow College head coach Jeff Reynolds said. "Tyler is a very solid team and didn't end up iin the Final Four by chance. They caught our attention last night when they beat No. 2 Odessa in a five-set grudge match. We put together our game plan in less than 24 hours and executed it to near perfection. I'm so excited for these kids, and the opportunity they have now to compete for a National Championship."

Sophomore Lydia Montague had another standout performance for the Badgers, racking up a match-high 16 kills on 24 attempts with just one error. Sophomore Bridgett Talia tallied nine kills and freshman Kjersti Strong chipped in nine kills of her own. Strong and Montague combined for eight blocks, including four blocks each. Freshman setter Macy Short recorded yet another double-double with 30 assists and 17 digs on the night. Sophomore libero Jentry Ison was credited with 10 digs.

The Snow defense came up big again tonight, holding the Apaches to a .082 hitting percentage, including a -.057 in the opening set.

Saturday's championship final will begin at 7 p.m. (CDT) from the West Plains Civic Center in West Plains, Mo. The game will be broadcast live on the NJCAA Netrowk
