OPENING KICKOFF: The Snow College women's soccer team continues Scenic Western Athletic Conference play as it hosts Colorado Northwestern Community College Thursday at 1 p.m.
The No. 10 Badgers come into the matchup with a 5-1-1 overall record and 2-1-1 in SWAC play. Snow College has won two games in a row scoring 15 total goals over that period in victories over the College of Southern Nevada (7-0) and Community Christian College (8-0).
KNOW YOUR FOE: CNCC is currently 2-6-1 overall this season and 1-2-1 in SWAC play. The Spartans are coming off a rough 2021 campaign that saw them go 0-16. CNCC is currently on a 4-game losing streak and are 1-5-1 over its last seven games with its last win coming on a 2-1 overtime victory over Community Christian College September 3.
Snow College currently boasts a perfect 11-0 record against the Spartans dating back to 2016. The Badgers have dominated those meetings and have not allowed a single goal in any game against the Spartans. Alternatively, Snow College has averaged 12.9 goals per game during those meetings. The lowest amount of goals the Badgers have scored is eight in a shutout victory December 13, 2016.
LAST TIME OUT: Despite the offensive outburst, it was perhaps that Badgers defense that was the more impressive element of the match. Snow College did not allow a single shot nor a corner kick defensively against the Saints throughout the entire match.
Skye Kennedy and
Mayu Yamamoto each scored two goals for the Badgers.
Fiona Jensen scored the first goal of the game, which was assisted by
Kennley Bradley.
Madelyn McQueen,
Belle Meadows, and
Emma Young each scored goals to help in the victory.
Candela Gonzalez,
Miku Kayama, and
Laila Spring all contributed assists in the win.
UP NEXT: The Badgers will head back out onto the road for its second-to-last road match of the season as they take on Utah State University Eastern Saturday October 1. Kickoff is slated for 11 a.m. at Castleview Hospital Soccer Field in Price.
