Kaci Smith of the Snow College softball team has been named the Scenic West Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week following her performance in the opening weekend of the Badger's 2023 regular season.
 
Smith, a Sophomore from Farr West Utah, appeared in relief against Glendale Community College and helped the Badgers earn an 8-4 victory, their first win of the season.  Smith entered the game in the first inning after Snow College allowed four runs and didn't record a single out.
 
Smith pitched seven complete innings and recorded every single out in relief.  She did not allow a run while scattering three hits through seven innings, striking out nine batters, and not surrendering a single walk.  Smith received eight runs in support which proved to be plenty as the Badgers cruised to an 8-4 win.
 
Smith appeared in 25 games for the Badgers a season ago and finished the year with a 5-9 record and a 10.95 ERA.  She started 12 games for the Badgers and pitched in six complete games totaling 78 innings pitched and striking out 31 batters.
 
Snow College will participate in one more tournament before beginning SWAC play in March.  The Badgers will travel to Yuma, AZ to participate in the Western Shootout where they will play six games over the three-day event.  For game start times and live stat information, visit snowbadgers.com.
