The Snow College women's volleyball team split a pair of matches against Utah State University Eastern and Colorado Northwestern Community College over the weekend. The Badgers now sit at 8-13 overall and 1-3 within the Scenic West Athletic Conference.
Snow College entered the weekend having lost three consecutive matches, two of which to SWAC foes Salt Lake Community College and the College of Southern Idaho. Both teams were ranked in the NJCAA Division I Volleyball Poll at the time of the meetings.
The Badgers looked to turn things around against the No. 12 Eagles but would suffer a 3-0 defeat. They lost the first set 25-15 before fighting back in the second set. They used a 7-1 run to pull within two late in the set but the Eagles won the final four points to win set two 25-19
Set three was the closest of the three as the score was tied at 15 midway through the stanza. The final few points were highly contested but the Eagles were able to secure the set, 25-22, and the victory.
Snow College pivoted to the Spartans, a team who it has never lost to. In fact, the Badgers have only ever lost three total sets to CNCC since 2011. The Badgers would maintain their dominance over the Spartans earning a three-set sweep.
Snow College used a 14-1 run in set one to take a commanding 16-5 lead. The Badgers maintained the momentum and won the set 25-11.
The Spartans punched back to begin set two jumping out to a 10-9 lead. Snow College quickly responded and won 13 of the final 16 points to win the set 25-15.
The Badgers jumped out to a 14-5 lead to begin set three before CNCC responded, eventually taking a 22-19 lead. Snow College finished the set on a 6-1 run and claimed the set 25-23.
The Badgers will continue its five-game home stand as they take on the College of Southern Nevada Saturday in Ephraim. The Coyotes are 6-9 overall and 1-3 within the SWAC.
