Men's Soccer Drops First Match of the Season to Coyotes

The Snow College soccer team suffered a 3-1 loss against the College of Southern Nevada Saturday in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Three second-half goals within three minutes of each other doomed the Badgers for their first loss of the season.
 
Snow College entered the weekend matchup coming off a 2-2 draw against No. 4 Salt Lake Community College in which Ryan Taylor scored the game-tying goal with 18 seconds remaining to level the score at 2 apiece.  
 
Luis Pantoja got the scoring started for the Badgers in the 36th minute off an assist from Hiro Okada.  Snow College would take the 1-0 lead into the halftime break.  
 
The Coyotes punched back midway through the second half.  They scored three goals within three minutes of each other and turned the game around giving CSN a 3-1 lead.
 
Snow College's defense allowed just two shots to the Coyotes in the first half.  CSN played more aggressively in the second half, putting up 13 total shots in the final 45 minutes of action. The Coyotes also had more total shots on goal than the Badgers (8-7).
 
The Badgers were held scoreless in the second half and dropped its first game of the season 3-1.  They now stand at 1-1-1 overall this season and 0-1-1 within Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
 
Snow College will now return home for a stretch of four consecutive home games beginning with Truckee Meadows Community College Thursday.  The Lizards own a 6-2-1 overall record and a 2-1 mark within the SWAC.  They were riding a six-game winning streak coming into last weekend's action before dropping a match to Utah State University Eastern, 3-0.
