Women's Soccer Faces SLCC, CNCC

OPENING KICKOFF: The Snow College women's soccer team will kickoff against Salt Lake Community College Thursday at 1 p.m in Taylorsville, Utah. The Badgers will continue conference play at Colorado Northwestern Community College Saturday at 11 a.m in Rangely, Colorado.

The Badgers currently have a 4-0-0 record and have moved from 16th to 12th overall in the NJCAA Division I Women's Soccer Top-20 rankings following their previous two victories over Western Nebraska Community College and Utah State University Eastern.

Daisha Wagner was named Scenic West Athletic Conference player of the week following the victories. 

KNOW YOUR FOE: Snow College is 10-10-6 against the No. 9 Bruins after dropping two of three matchups last season. The Badgers are 2-7-2 when playing in Taylorsville against the Bruins.

The Bruins are 2-1-0 after losing their first Scenic West Athletic Conference game to CNCC. Due to this loss, the Bruins dropped from No. 6 in the nation to No. 9.

The Badgers are 15-0 against the Spartans historically averaging 11 goals per game with 165 goals over the 15 matchups. The Badgers have allowed only one goal to the Spartans since 2016.

CNCC currently own a 5-0-0 season record with their most recent win against SLCC, which was ranked No. 6 at game time. The Spartans are now ranked 19th in the nation.

LAST TIME OUT: The No. 16 Snow College women's soccer team earned a 4-2 victory over Utah State University Eastern in the first Scenic West Athletic Conference game of the season.

The Badgers started the scoring in the 5th minute on a Bailee Ballard shot assisted by Megan Hanson. Ballard extended the lead in the 22nd minute from an Emily Morrill pass, giving the team a 2-0 advantage.

The Eagles scored in the 44th minute to finish the half with a 2-1 Badger lead. USUE scored again in the 50th minute to tie up the game, 2-2. 

Daisha Wagner scored in the 73rd minute assisted by Morrill to move the Badgers back into the lead. A goal from Annika Snow on a pass from Mirabel Shellabarger in the 78th minute once again extended the Badgers' lead to two.

Hayley Ogden allowed two goals while also turning away two shots on goal. Ogden now has 10 saves in 13 shots on goal for the season.

The Badgers out shot the Eagles 14-11 throughout the game with nine shots on goal, while allowing just four shots on goal. The Badgers have scored 20 goals on the season while only surrendering three goals.

The Badgers now hold a 4-0-0 overall record with a 1-0-0 SWAC record. Snow College will continue conference play against No. 6 Salt Lake Community College Thursday at 1 p.m. in Taylorsville. 

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Daisha Wagner of the Snow College women's soccer team took home the Scenic West Athletic Conference Player of the Week award, the conference announced Tuesday.

Wagner, a sophomore from Idaho Falls, Idaho, scored three goals over the week with two goals against Western Nebraska Community College and one goal against Utah State University Eastern. 

Wagner scored the first and last of the Badgers' seven goals against WNCC last Wednesday. Wagner also scored the go-ahead goal for the Badgers against the Eagles before the team ultimately claimed the victory, 4-2. 

Wagner has tallied three goals and one assist on the season with seven total points. She has started all four games for the Badgers and has a shot-on-goal percentage of 75 for the year.

UP NEXT: Snow College will begin a seven-game homestand starting Thursday, Sept. 19 against North Idaho College. The match is scheduled to kickoff at 1 p.m at the Snow College Soccer Complex in Ephraim.

The Cardinals are 2-1-1 overall and are coming off a 4-0 victory over Pacific Northwest Christian College. NIC will play the College of Southern Idaho and Truckee Meadows Community College before kicking off against the Badgers For video streaming and live stat information, visit snowbadgers.com.
