Men's Soccer Starts Seven-Game Homestand

OPENING KICKOFF: The Snow College men's soccer team will take on North Idaho College for its first home Scenic West Athletic Conference game. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the Snow College Soccer Complex.

The Badgers will continue their home stand Saturday at 1:30 p.m. against Pacific Northwest Christian College in Ephraim, Utah.

The Badgers are coming off a win and loss over the weekend. Snow College dropped its game against No. 2 Salt Lake Community College 2-1 last Thursday before defeating Colorado Northwestern Community College 2-0 Saturday.

KNOW YOUR FOE: Snow College has not played against NIC in its program history. The Cardinals have recently returned to the SWAC after parting ways with the Northwest Athletic Conference.

The Cardinals currently have a 8-0-0 overall record and a 3-0-0 mark in conference play to begin their season. NIC is coming off of recent victories over the College of Southern Idaho with a 3-1 win, and a 3-0 shutout over Truckee Meadows Community College.

The Cardinals have scored 20 goals in their first three conference games, allowing only one goal against CSI. They have also defeated Pacific Northwest Christian College 14-0.

The Badgers are 2-0 historically against PNCC with both victories taking place in the 2023 season – the first season for the Gladiators as a member of the NJCAA. Snow College shut out PNCC 6-0 in its first matchup, while dominating the second game 21-0.

PNCC is currently 0-3-0 on the season after dropping matches to NIC (14-0), TMCC (4-1), and CSI (3-0). PNCC has only scored one goal on the year while allowing 21 goals.

LAST TIME OUT: The Snow College men's soccer team split two games over the weekend against No. 2 Salt Lake Community College and Colorado Northwestern Community College. The Badgers lost 2-1 to the Bruins Thursday followed by a 2-0 victory over the Spartans Saturday.

Snow College entered the weekend with a 3-0 overall record for the season. The Badgers had previously defeated Utah State University Eastern 3-1 to begin Scenic West Athletic Conference play.

Thursday's game against SLCC was the first matchup for the Badgers against a ranked team in the NJCAA Men's Soccer Top 20 Poll. The Bruins scored the only goal of the first half in the 41st minute. Mathias Christensen turned away three shots in the first half to hold the deficit to one.

The Bruins scored again in the 74th minute to extend the lead to two. The Badgers scored their only goal of the game in the 89th minute as Ansoumane Camara found the back of the net.

The Badgers took only one shot in the game that turned out to be their lone goal. The Bruins took seven shots on goal while Christensen turned away five.

Snow College then traveled to CNCC to take on the Spartans Saturday. The Badgers were 19-0 all-time against the Spartans entering the weekend and continued their win streak to 20.

The Badgers opened the scoring in the 32nd minute from a goal by Max Mayer with Jack Cook providing the assist. Soon after the second half began, the Badgers extended their lead on a goal by Carlos Rodriguez in the 50th minute.

Snow College had 18 shots with 10 shots on goal, while allowing CNCC nine shots with four shots on goal throughout the game. Christensen had three saves against CNCC moving his season total to 18 following the weekend. The Badgers now hold a 2-1-0 conference record for the 2024 season.

UP NEXT: The Badgers will continue their home-stand Thursday Sept. 26 against TMCC. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at the Snow College Soccer Complex. The Badgers will then face CSI the following Saturday at 1:30 p.m. For video streaming and live stat information, visit snowbadgers.com.
