GAME NOTES: The Snow College softball team will wrap up its home schedule with a four-game series against North Idaho College Friday and Saturday in Ephraim. Â
The Badgers are coming off a four-game series against Utah State University Eastern where they took two games from the Eagles. With the two wins, the Badgers have won the season series after winning five of the eight games against their in-state rival.
Â
Ayden Fitch had a strong offensive performance against the Eagles as she slashed .333/.529/1.333 while going 4-12 from the plate. All four hits were home runs and she also led the team with nine RBIs and scored seven runs.
Â
As a team, the Badgers hit a total of nine home runs against the Eagles, which is the same amount they hit through the first 23 games of the season. Over their last 12 games, the Badgers have hit 16 total home runs after hitting just nine in their first 23 games.
Â
The Cardinals own a 15-19 overall record and are in fourth place in the Scenic West Athletic Conference with a 7-13 mark. They sit two games behind the Badgers for third place within the conference.
Â
The Badgers are 22-23 all time against North Idaho College. Snow College took two of four from the Cardinals when the two teams met in Lewiston, Idaho earlier this season. This will be the first time since April 2014 the Badgers will face the Cardinals in Ephraim.
Â
RECORD WATCH: Kamryn Allen has hit five home runs so far during the 2025 season. After hitting 20 home runs in 2024, which set the school record for homers in a season, she needs just three more big flies to break the program record for home runs in a career. Alyssa Arslanian set the mark as she hit 27 homers during the 2016 and 2017 seasons.
Â
Allen is also just three runs batted in away from setting the record for career RBIs. The record for career RBIs was also set by Alyssa Arslanian between the 2016-17 seasons.
Â
LAST TIME OUT: The Snow College softball team split a four-game series against Utah State University Eastern over the weekend in Price. The Badgers won games one and three to win the season series against the Eagles 5-3.
Â
The Badgers entered after dropping three of four games to No. 16 Salt Lake Community College March 21-22 in Ephraim. The four-game series with USUE marks the beginning of the second half of conference play.
Â
Snow College started quickly in game one as back-to-back doubles from
Hailey Mangum and
Brooke Fisher to lead off the game gave the Badgers a 1-0 lead.
Kamryn Allen pushed across another run two batters later on a fielder's choice.
Â
USUE cut the lead in half with a single tally in the fourth inning.
Ayden Fitch launched a two-run homer in the fifth inning before a walk and two singles preceded a hit from
Brenley Boydston, which plated two to give the Badgers a 6-1 lead.
Â
The Badgers added three more on a home run from Allen in the sixth. The Eagles got the three runs right back in the sixth inning before Snow College pushed across five more runs in the final frame.
Â
Two of the five runs came off the bat of Boydston as she blasted a home run to extend the lead. Four batters later, Fitch hit her second homer of the game, this time a three-run shot, and Snow College led 14-4 entering the bottom of the seventh.
Â
USUE scored seven runs in the bottom of the seventh, but the lead was too large and the Badgers earned the victory, 14-11.
Â
The Badgers struck first in game two as a sacrifice fly from Allen pushed across the first run of the game.
Taimane Laolagi-Aloy then hit a two-run homer to give them a 3-0 lead. The Eagles responded and turned the tables, scoring four runs in the bottom of the inning to take the lead.
Â
Snow College regained the advantage in the third inning on a two-run homer from Allen. The home run was Allen's fifth of the season and 25
th of her career. She needs just two more big flies to tie the record for home runs in a career matching the mark set by Alyssa Arslanian set between 2016-17.
Â
USUE plated a run in the fourth inning to tie the game at five. Fitch broke the tie with a solo homer, her third of the day, to lead off the seventh inning. USUE responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh to claim the victory, 7-6.
Â
Fitch carried on where she left off in the first inning of game three as she hit a towering home run over the centerfield wall to give the Badgers a 3-0 lead. Similarly to game two, the Eagles responded with four runs in the bottom of the first.
Â
Fisher hit a two-out, two-run homer in the second inning to give Snow College the advantage right back. An RBI single from
Gracie Brooks in the third and another home run from Fisher, this one a three-run blast, in the fifth gave the Badgers a 9-4 lead and ultimately the win.
Â
After being sidelined by a comebacker that hit her two pitches into the game,
Avery Thorkelson returned later in the first inning and pitched a gem. She allowed just one run on three hits over 6 2/3 innings while striking out three batters.
Â
Snow College struggled to get the offense going in the final game of the series pushing across just two runs. Mangum drove in both runs for the Badgers as she reached on an error in the second inning and singled in the fourth. USUE earned the win, 12-2.
Â
Boydston led the Badgers offensively as she slashed .500/.571/.750, had a homer, and drove in four RBIs. Fisher went 6-15 (.400/.471/.867) with two home runs, a double and six RBIs. Fitch hit four home runs in 12 at-bats, drove in nine runs, and drew three walks.
Â
