GAME NOTES: The Snow College softball team will head to Twin Falls, Idaho, and participate in the Region 18 Tournament beginning Tuesday. The Badgers, who enter the tournament as the three seed, will take on the two seed Salt Lake Community College at 12:00 p.m. to kick off the three-day event.
Â
The Badgers concluded the season against the Bruins two weeks ago in Taylorsville. SLCC took all four games during the series and will enter Tuesday's matchup having won eight of its final 10 games to end the season.
Â
This is the second consecutive season the Badgers have finished as the three seed in the Scenic West Athletic Conference. Last season, Snow College lost twice to the College of Southern Idaho, which sandwiched a victory against Utah State University Eastern to finish third in the tournament.
Â
Ayden Fitch led the way from the plate as she went 4-11 (.364/.417/.727) with a homer, a double, and two RBIs.
Kamryn Allen, who leads the team in walks, drew seven walks over the weekend.
Â
The Badgers are 11-115 all time against the Bruins and have won just one of the previous 18 matchups. The two teams have faced each other five times in the Region 18 Tournament since 2010. The Badgers are winless in those matchups.
Â
RECORD WATCH: Two Badgers are closing in on the all-time home run record. Both Allen and Fitch need just one home run to tie the record, which was set during the 2016-17 season by Alyssa Arslanian. Allen set the single-season record with 20 home runs as a freshman and has hit six big flies this year. Fitch hit 12 homers during the 2024 campaign and has hit 14 to this point in the season including hitting nine over the final 16 games of the season.
Â
Allen is also just one run batted in away from setting the record for career RBIs. Arslanian also set the record for career RBIs between the 2016-17 seasons.
Â
